Chris Rock, Melissa McCarthy Teaming For New Romance?

He may be playing Julie Delpy's bespeckled beau in "Two Days In New York," her stateside sequel to 2007's "Two Days In Paris," but it seems Chris Rock has his eyes on another woman: Melissa McCarthy.

"I'm trying to romance her," the comedian told the LA Times, adding that he is penning a script, which imagines the unconventional duo trafficking in rowdy dysfunction. A "Jerry Springer couple," he said.

Sure, that sounds amazing. (Like, really amazing.) But McCarthy has quite the list of suitors already. She's attached to star with Jason Bateman in "Identity Theft," which, as you may have guessed from the title, is about a person who has their identity stolen.

She's also Paul Feig's dream better-half for Jon Hamm in "Dumb Jock."

"I'm very excited about that project," Feig said to Movieline last summer. "I'm writing with them in mind, and it's just a love story that I've always wanted to write, that I think will be really funny, but will play much more real than most quote-unquote romantic comedies. Fingers crossed, I get them to do it."

I do not understand why Melissa doesn't have gastric surgery...it is a simple procedure and very effective..obviously she can afford it, but maybe she thinks her size is an advantage.

maybe she is perfectly happy the way that she is (as it is her right to be so) and you are just conditioned by society to think people of certain body types have something to be ashamed of.

Melissa McCarthy is attractive and very funny. It doesn't matter what size she is, it doesn't negate her talent. I would really like to see some of you in person...none of us is as handsome or beautiful as the image is of our fantasy selves. So knock it off. As for her being related to Jenny McCarthy...what's so hard for someone to believe? I think Jenny M. is quirky and sort of funny whereas Melissa M. IS funny and without the 10 pounds of make-up, alleged cosmetic surgery and numerous other enhancements, Jenny M. would look like any other woman out in the real world. Good grief, some of you are obsessed with artificial perfection.

... but be honest... Melissa McCarthy is fat but she is also very beautiful or she would not be even remotely palatable in anything but a "bad fatty" role. I was surprised to find out she's related to Jenny McCarthy but then again I'm not because they are both from Chicago and it is that supernatural beauty that let Jenny McCarthy become a sensation as a goofy comedian/hostess and is the wind beneath Melissa's wings!

I like McCarthy and think she may yet develop into a serious actress. I was a bit taken aback by her role in Bridesmaids because I hated to see her play a stereotyped character. Why not have her be the bridesmaid that traditionally handsome men find inexplicably sexy? Why not have one of the thin bridesmaids be pretty and gross? I would have enjoyed that more.

Speaking only for myself, I hope she doesn't do too more of that type of crude role. That said, the scene with her on the sink was hillarious!

I've seen Melissa in Bridesmaids and SNL (and even that small part of the Life of David Gale!), and she's a very talented, hilarious woman. She could definitely lead films, or at least with a male counterpart.
