Christian Pastor Calls For Starbucks Boycott Over Gay Marriage Support

A Christian pastor is asking customers to boycott Starbucks due to the company's support of a bill to legalize gay marriage in Washington state, King 5 News reports.

"Christians are upset with Starbucks for turning against God...Starbucks can follow Satan if they want to," Steven Andrew, and evangelical pastor and president of the USA Christian Ministries in California, said in a statement. "However, pastors are to help Christians. Are you on the Lord's side? Will you help the USA be blessed by God?"

The call for the boycott was released Tuesday, a day prior to the bill's passage in Washington's State Senate Wednesday night, according to Reuters.

USA Ministries is also asking for Christians to stop serving the brand at their church facilities and events.

The Seattle-based coffee chain joined more than 100 other firms in backing the same-sex marriage bill.

Other companies taking a similar position include Nike, Google and Microsoft, Half Moon Bay Patch notes.

If the bill passes in the state house of representatives next week, Washington will become the seventh U.S. state to recognize same-sex unions.

I think it is ridiculous for a "Christian Pastor" to ask a community of Christians to boycott an organization that supports an In-Moral cause. For those Christians out there sharpening your pick-forks hear me out. God called Christians to go out into the world and be salt and light. So are we supposed to be light where it is already bright? are we supposed to be salt on a plate full of food that is being served to produce a heart attack? No! Just as Jesus would spend most of his time with drunks and prostitutes, he says this, On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
So I hope that anyone who reads this can still go to Starbucks and enjoy a cup of coffee costing them their weight in Gold! Just Remember be the Salt and Light, Not the police sirens and rotten meat!

You are one confused puppy, mblock. If your identity relies on your sexual desires you are in greater need of therapy than you are of salvation.
This migh be one reason why 'traditional marriage' is failing at such a en enormous rate; you base your relationship on sex.

How foolish for Starbucks or any other businesses to get involved with this distraction. I am not a Christian and could care less what Christians think, but we have real issues in America, and I find gay activism a real turnoff - I do not believe that the activism helps gay people. It sure didn't help them when they lost rights to civil unions in Ohio due to activists demands for attention, and I would suspect that it isn't making people feel very gay-friendly...even if they were before all the forced focus on a relative non-issue. The Mormon proposition in California passed, in spite of all the talk of support for gay marriage, so it might just be that some are afraid to be upfront with their views. But they vote! And they are free to think as they will and do as they will. I personally don't like people telling me how to think or what I have to approve of, but if someone harps on me constantly and I can't get away from it, it is very likely I will quit being authentic with them just so they shut up. And then I believe as I choose, vote as I choose, and harbor some resentment for having been pushed into being less than honest. I wonder if I am alone in that...

The saddest thing of all is that it the Christians who are just sitting back and saying nothing or are okay with gays adopting kids and getting married. They don't STUDY God's word so they don't have the slightest idea that this is so contrary to God's word and by the time they do realize it, it may be too late. Already the gay community want to rid all books including the Bible of the words man and wife. Soon they will have the political power to force churches to except them and marry them. And when middle America sees their daughters sleeping with other women and their sons with other men as a choice it will be too late.

No, the saddest thing of all is people who have absolute certainty about something they believe based purely on faith ( I get whiplash trying to find any logic there), then center their lives around telling people of other faiths that they will burn in Hell if they don't accept Jesus. And, they feel really smug about it!

How is it that the bible, of questionable veracity, is full of showy miracles by God and Jesus leaving no doubt of religious claims, but we get bupkus? Is God not that into us anymore? How about one little sign? How about one scintilla of evidence for going all-in on a belief? You know, the STUDYING, and the 24/7 bit-?

It's because those miracles are either made out of whole cloth, exaggerated descriptions of natural phenomena passed on orally until they become meaningless, or human deceptions perpetrated on simple-minded illiterate people with no knowledge of the workings of the natural world. The illiteracy rate in those days was in the 90+percent range. People believed in demon and witches...what's that? They still do??

The first written book of the new testament was not written down until around 40 years after Jesus' death (yes, I do believe he existed, but as a remarkable and courageous societal revolutionar-,not a god, and certainly not someone who would look kindly on SOME of contemporary Christianity and it's shortcomings. Enough for now.

You guys advocated boycott of Chick-Fila for personal support of anti-gay organizations, with DC mayor calling hate chicken. Chicago mayor saying Chick-Fila not our value (cannot even tell the difference between a personal versus corporate value), and Boston mayor saying Chick-Fila need not apply there.
