Police hope to teach this former high school instructor not to buy alcohol for her students.
Emma Wise, 22, was a chemistry teacher at Central Falls High School in Providence, R.I., when police say she bought five teenagers alcohol and drank with them after a school football game, according to NBC News 10.
Wise has been charged with one count of procurement of alcohol for a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She pleaded not guilty and was released under her own recognizance, according to the station.
On Monday, school officials sent automated phone messages to parents explaining that the district "has taken immediate action to respond to serious allegations," WPRO reports.
Wise was put on administrative leave when the investigation began last month, according to the Associated Press. Wise later resigned once the investigation was underway.
Central Falls High School has received more than its share of bad press recently. In 2010, all of the schools teachers were fired because the institution was severely underperforming.
Last year the AP reported that, after they struck a deal to get their jobs back, many teachers at the school simply weren't showing up for work.
