Cops say a man is picking up prostitutes in Toronto, posing as a cop and demanding sexual acts from them.

Cops are on a manhunt for a con artist in Toronto who they say has been posing as an undercover cop and demanding sex from prostitutes in exchange for their freedom.

The phony policeman has been picking up sex workers in a car, claiming to be an officer and then forcing them to perform sexual acts since Nov. 18, 2011, according to a press release.

Most recently, on Jan. 27, the impostor picked up a prostitute and drove away with her before making his perverted move -- but she wasn't having it.

"The man told the woman he was a police officer and demanded a sexual act from the woman," according to the press release. "The woman managed to escape from the car and call police."

Toronto's National Post reported that the man is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build, brown eyes and short dark hair.

Cops believe that the man may have other victims.

So... the prostitutes got mad that he got them to have sex with him so he wouldnt take them to jail but then they realized they wouldn't have gotten arrested anyway? Or he's cutting into their profits by getting all those freebies? The sad thing is this guy will probably get in more trouble than the actual cops that do this

I found this reference to Canadian law:

"273.1(1) Subject to subsection (2) and subsection 265(3), “consent†means, for the purposes of sections 271, 272and 273, the voluntary agreement of the complainant to engage in the sexual activity in question."

"2) No consent is obtained, for the purposes of sections 271, 272 and 273, where the agreement is expressed by the words or conduct of a person other than the complainant;

(b) the accused induces the complainant to engage in the activity by abusing a position of trust, power or authority;"

According to the linked news release, the woman that had sex with him believed he was a police officer and clearly a police officer requesting a freebie in exchange for dropping a prostitution charge would constitute "...abusing a position of trust, power or authority;" So a corrupt cop or a police impersonater inducing a prostitute into a quid pro quo to drop a charge is committing a sexual assault, even if it was nothing more than a sound business decision on the part of the victim.

From the linked press release:

"It is reported that:
− a female sex trade worker was picked up by a man in a car
− the man claimed to be an undercover police officer
− the man demanded sexual acts from the woman, or she would be taken to jail
− the woman complied with the demands
− the man then drove to a nearby intersection and released the woman"

Clearly, he was impersonating a police officer, which is illegal. There was no mention of threats of force, merely arrest for prostitution. For the ones that actually believed he was a cop, they apparently made a business decision to give the cop a freebie to avoid jail. What crime did he commit, fraud, shoplifting or theft of services?

Seriously, they need to stop him before he escalates. He now knows he's a wanted criminal and one of his future victims may physically resist him or he may feel threatened that he could be identified and injure or kill someone.
