Madonna Halftime Show: Super Bowl Performance Glitters In Gold (PHOTOS)

Madonna did not disappoint.

The 53-year-old legend took the biggest stage in the world, the 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Show, and brought the house down. She dressed to impress, sporting a gold headdress, black thigh-high boots, a youthful pleated miniskirt, a black sequined robe and gold cheerleader pom-poms (not all at once, of course).

We died, obviously, to see that the opening number was "Vogue," featuring dozens of Vogue covers lit up across the stage.

Appropriately, Madonna didn't skimp on the high fashion, trotting around the multi-level stage in Givenchy Couture threads, Miu Miu boots and Bulgari jewels with little helpers M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj wearing Erickson Beamon headpieces. Her black liquid eyeliner looked flawless and her blonde waves were perfectly in place.

But despite the expensive threads, Madonna was her old self: turning cartwheels, showing off her bejeweled panties, writhing on the ground before Cee-Lo Green (in head-to-toe black sequins, natch) and making us all forget there was even a football game in session.

Girl's still got it. Check out the epic, fashion-filled, black-and-gold extravaganza that was Madonna's Super Bowl halftime performance below.

Re; Madonna - She's NOT my cup of tea either BUT, there are those who find her attractive. I'm saying her performance was so-so - nothing special. Re; The "rest of us" I'm speaking about those other 25% who too the time to comment - get it now? Give it up already - you know it was not her best performance or try Lens Crafters.

I just read on AOL about her homeless brother.
MADONNA, GIVE HIM A BREAK.Buy at least an unexpensive home for your brother and send him money the rest of his life to live with some dignity.NO MATTER WHAT happened or going on between you and him. IS STILL YOUR BLOOD, YOUR BROTHER.

I used to think that a lot of Madonna's mid-career performances were pretty amazing. She absolutely pushed the envelope back then and was amusingly and wryly controversial. This Super Bowl extravaganza was beyond lame and looked like some bad, washed-up, has-been's act in Vegas. Both the production and Madonna's performance vacillated between awful and boring. Or awfully boring? Frankly, the most interesting and least trite part of it was when she slipped.

You've got to be kidding. Everyone I know thinks this was the lamest concert in years at a Super Bowl. All the emphasis was on the costumes and choreography. The music was terrible. If this had been a concert, we would have wanted out money back. Yechhhh!

Madonna's half-time performance at the Super Bowl was, by all accounts, a success.

I was very disappointed in her show. She has a great voice and the little dancing she did was ok, but what a lack luster show. All that Black and Gold was just tacky. It did nothing for anyone. All those "slaves" what were they suppose to express for "World Peace." Very, very much a nothing Half Time Show. Let's get back to real artist with some excitment in there shows. World Peace! maybe she should have called it World Sleeping Pills. Audrey Palmatier

So very, very true and sad. Terrible music for a concert.

Why do all the Madonna haters care to open this post and rant how much they hate Madonna, there are plenty of other posts to comment about, sorry to break it to you she wrote the play book for 30 years and has the endurance that will last a lifetime with a bank account to book, prepare for her world tour and this superbowl broke viewing records.Get over your minority selves and get back to your day job. Madonna has more beautiful conceptual creating to do. Maybe the world peace is directed towards YOU if you can even open your eyes beyond the hate and sexism!

Wake up, she can't dance in those silly shoes - who could? Besides, she's older now and almost fell did you see that?

I'm not a die hard fan of Madonna but over the years I've enjoyed some of her songs, and I happen think the show she put on was great! She shared the spotlight with younger artists beautifully. I loved her and CeeLo doing Like a prayer, and all the others were great with the exception of that tacky, classless imbecil that no one really knows who she is except to say she's an underground artist, That's exactly where she belongs, UNDERGROUND, GO BACK PLEASE!

I and many others thought that Madonna was very boring! The set-up was great, but she was truly a snooze. Lip singing old songs, and twirling around like a 10 year old! I must say she looks fantastic, but I cannot remember when I ever went to the kitchen on a football halftime show. A news woman said “I know Madonna will have a surprise for us” Well she did! She made me sleepy

It WAS terrible!

I hated Madonna in the 80s, and have been indifferent to her ever since, but that was an amazing show, and I think she actually looks better than she did 25 years ago. Shit, I'm 53 and I get winded climbing three flights of stairs.

We like Madonna's music, but this show sucked.... could have done without the heavy duty costumes and M.I. A. & Nicki Minaj and whoever else was on that stage. Way too much goofy crap. Would have enjoyed a mixture of just Madonna songs with nobody else.
