Offbeat Chicago Classes To Share With Your Valentine -- Or Try Solo (PHOTOS)

Whether you're already paired off or flying solo, Valentine's Day can be a stressful time. When coupled with Chicago's oft-dreary mid-February weather, it can be downright miserable.

But, with the goal to help you beat the doldrums, HuffPost Chicago has rounded up some of the Chicago area's best and most offbeat opportunities to get off the couch and learn a new craft besides Facebook-plus-television multitasking. You won't find any ballroom dancing or couples cooking classes here -- these classes will have something new to offer even the most versatile of Renaissance folk.

If you're coupled, these courses, workshops and demos -- ranging from candle making to miming -- provide a chance for even the old doggiest-feeling among us to learn a new trick or two, and if you're single, these offerings hold the possibility of meeting a new mate outside of the Internet dating realm.

Did we miss a local plate spinning seminar? An intensive taxidermy course? Or Glass Harp 101? Let us know in the comments.

Also available at the Gymnasium: circus arts, circus fitness and, yes, contortion -- all great opportunities to truly get your relationship off the ground
