And, we're off. While the Giants and the Patriots are competing in Indianapolis, advertisers are competing for your attention.

Did this Old Navy ad generate any conversation at your Super Bowl party? The reaction on Twitter was mixed.

For years, viewers have tuned into the NFL's Super Bowl as much to see what the advertisers roll out as how the two teams vying for the sport's top prize perform. This year is no different. Each time that NBC cuts away from Super Bowl XLVI between the New York Giants and New England Patriots a hush will come over most Super Bowl parties as everyone -- and not just the diehard sports fans with a rooting (or betting) interest -- focuses entirely on the ads.

While iconic Super Bowl commercials like Apple's '1984' and Coke's ad starring Mean Joe Greene will be remembered so many more are soon forgotten or, even worse, ridiculed as super fails.

How does this Super Bowl ad stack up?

Old Navy's slogan should be:

"Don't dress like e business man, dress like a hobo."

This years ads stunk. You would think that with all the people out of work there would be real competition to produce a product that was hilarious and memorable. I guess this just shows that the real talent in the industry, the older, experienced people in advertising, who were let go first and replaced by young, cheep, inexperience labor, don't know a thing about making people laugh while ingraining the product they are hawking in everyones mind.

I missed the game, so I watched all 60 ads when I got home. You are correct, they really were bad. There were only a couple that I even thought were somewhat decent. I'm not sure where they all went wrong this year, but they went very wrong. They get an "F" for this year's ads. Just horrible.

I thought it was an ad for their new line of clothes an adult could wear. It's not as funny if you have to explain the joke.

Lame, they wasted money airing it during the Superbowl.

I missed the first quarter and all the commercials from then on were just plain stupid. The only one that I found humorous was the one with Seinfeld. I am amazed that companies spend such huge amounts of money to create such idiotic commercials and to air them! Bubble gum for brains.

Next year look for them to debut their 'Sashaying Gay Corporado Sissy Dude' ad. All of the 'gay types' are already drooling with anticipation.

Erm, put my vote in for lame. Wasn't funny or original and uh yeah was just kinda lame.

What kind of numb nut shops at a store because of an ad anyway?? Silly me, I figured you liked a store and its products, or you didn't.

It's nothing that would in any way change the world, but it was fun and I liked it.

Actually, that was pretty funny. Reminds me of the salsa comercial where the guys "locks" his horse with a car remote. I still crack up ; )

yeah because I'm sure they care...You must be one of those 'corporate" types huh...No sense of humor...

Maybe Pierre99 is just one of those people who don't spend their money in places they don't agree with their corporate mission. You are right, I am sure Old Navy doesn't care about Pierre but he/she can do what he/she wants with his/her money, especially when he/she did not find the humor in the advertising. Have to wonder why a person who only said they will not visit a certain store makes you so upset. Apparently you are a stockholder in Old Navy or maybe an employee or one of their "corporate" types.
