SNL's Newt Gingrich Moon Colony Cold Open (VIDEO)

"Saturday Night Live" opened its Channing Tatum-helmed episode with a Sci-Fi sketch parodying Newt Gingrich's claims that if elected president he will build a permanent moon base.

With Bobby Moynihan returning as Gingrich and Kristen Wiig as Calista, we were treated to a GOP vision of the future, in which second-term socialist president Obama has run America into the ground, and Gingrich has installed himself as moon president. Along for the ride are his trusted robot advisor, the Reagatron 3000 (Bill Hader), and Herman Cain (Kenan Thompson).

But trouble looms as Iran and North Korea launch nuclear weapons, and it's up to Newt and Calista to figure out a way to repopulate the human race.

Newt is almost singlehandedly responsible for the disfunctionality of our congress. Someone needs tp publcize his teaching tapes aimed at potential conservative candidates.

In the late 70s Governor Brown suggested America's future would be in "high tech" industries, the press ridiculed him and labeled him Governor Moon Beam. "Reporters" couldn't mention him without the Moon Beam adjective.
Newton Gingrich advocates this idiotic idea (the 51st State?!) and the media reported it and is silent!
The bias in the media is worth noting!

I can't believe what Republicans are offering as presidential candidates.
In 2008 the Democratic candidates were all credible potential presidents.
In 2012, the Republicans have only one minimally credible candidate. The rest range from wildly unqualified to kooky to actually mentally ill.
Where are the sane Republicans?
