Dannon John Stamos Super Bowl Commercial: Ad Shows

John Stamos
John Stamos took a pretty big hit in this commercial.

Those lamenting the paucity of former "Full House" stars in most Super Bowl commercials were most likely thrilled to watch Dannon's commercial featuring who else but Uncle Jessie himself, John Stamos. The ad begins with Stamos playfully teasing a woman with a spoonful of greek yogurt before eating it himself. But keeping her from her greek yogurt is apparently an unforgivable act. Stamos has to learn this fact the hard way, as the woman violently head butts him and gets the container for herself.

We're unsure if the woman ultimately received a fine from Roger Goodell for deliberate helmet-to-helmet contact.

For years, viewers have tuned into the NFL's Super Bowl as much to see what the advertisers roll out as how the two teams vying for the sport's top prize perform. This year is no different. Each time that NBC cuts away from Super Bowl XLVI between the New York Giants and New England Patriots a hush will come over most Super Bowl parties as everyone -- and not just the diehard sports fans with a rooting (or betting) interest -- focuses entirely on the ads.

While iconic Super Bowl commercials like Apple's '1984' and Coke's ad starring Mean Joe Greene will be remembered so many more are soon forgotten or, even worse, ridiculed as super fails.

How does this Super Bowl ad stack up?

The Washington Domestic Violence Commission expresses our concern over this ad. Dannon's decision to employ domestic violence to sell their product is offensive to all victims of DV men, women or children.

We at the WADVC have a sense of humor but if the roles were reversed this would clearly be unacceptable and the public would boycott Dannon's products. Studies show that rates of DV by both sexes are roughly equivalent. This fact makes this ad's depiction of woman on man violence equally unacceptable.

In light of Dannon's recent responses we have asked them to immediately pull this ad & issue an apology.

Yes, it's always hilarious when a man is abused by a woman apparently just like it was so funny when that daytime program had a good laugh at the severed penis. What level of hypocrisy is this where violance and abuse is now the new comedy but only if it's against a male. How about we change the sexes around and see how funny that would be then. The hypocrisy is astounding and yet the Dannon company claims to be against Domestic Violence. Anyone see the hypocrisy there, ANYONE..

Could the song in this ad be any more of a rip off of 'Zebra' by John Butler Trio??

Will not be buying Dannon. Domestic violence is never funny. People who think it is have never experienced domestic violence.

That girl looks a lot like Little Grey from Grey's Anatomy.

@LukinsMom, fyi, i don't think you "not" buying their yogurt will send Dannon into bankruptcy.

Seriously people, it was just a commercial. It didn't promote family violence or murder or anything your minds might think of. It was a commercial. We're all grown ups and know right from wrong. Get a life.

unfortunately, this commercial shows where we are as a society. It got great laughs from the grown ups in the bar last night. I'm sure all the girls watching got the message that it's heroic and funny to beat up men.

What would the response have been if a girl was playfully teasing the guy and he punched her in the face, then when she gets up he makes her flinch just for another laugh. Great fun, after all we're all grown-ups

LukinsMom won't be the only one not buying Dannon,

Sadly it is more than "just a commercial". It is a message that is perpetuated throughout our society that violence committed by women is acceptable and cute. It is a message that it is OK to hit men because, well, hey, there only men. Well this message is wrong and it needs to stop and it will only stop when people start to speak up about it. So which is it? do you think Domestic violence is ok or don't you?

The commercial glorifies domestic violence and blatantly rips off John Butler Trio. I won't be buying this yogurt. I don't know what they were thinking but they must be nuts if they think it would encourage me to purchase their yogurt. I'd say EPIC FAIL in the Superbowl Commercial stakes.

What the hell are you talking about?

So let me get this right a woman headbutting a man out of a chair and committing Domestic Violence is great fun and playful throughout.

Where are screams of outrage from people on this, quit being Hippocrates!!!

"Stamos has to learn this fact the hard way, as the woman violently head butts him and gets the container for herself". ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!
I don't care if you are a man or a woman keep your frickin hands to yourself...
There is nothing funny or acceptable about domestic violence!!!

"What’s great about this commercial is that it’s fun and playful throughout, without being a Super Bowl commercial “event”, thanks to the wordless banter of its two stars. The ending just knocks it out of the ballpark". (http://www.superbowl-commercials.org/9321.html)
