Amber Portwood Awarded Plea Deal, Headed To Rehab

Amber Portwood was close to seeing stripes behind bars before an Indiana judge gave the go-ahead, Monday, on a plea deal that allows Portwood to enter a rehab program rather than jail.

According to TMZ, Portwood agreed to enter a rehab facility to escape a five-year jail sentence stemming from a December 2011 arrest for drug possession, a class D felony, and probation violation. Portwood previously pleaded guilty to all charges.

But the plea deal does not afford Portwood an immediate get-out-of-jail-free card. She could spend up to two weeks in custody, during which time an evaluation by the Drug Court team will be conducted. Once accepted into the rehabilitation program, Portwood will be released from jail.

Portwood arrived in court wearing an orange-and-white striped jumpsuit, shackled at the hands and feet, to hear the judge's approval of her rehab plea deal.

The article failed to mention why she was arrested with a felony drug charge. What drugs were being used? Was she dealing? What was her prior arrest for? It also failed to tell why this woman is considered a celebrity. I have no clue who she is.

I'm not in favor of any hardcore drugs, they should stay illegal. But marijuana should have the same laws as liquor when done in private (away from general population). If caught in public then confiscate and fine them. Free up our Police and Courts and prisons for serious criminals.

The definition of "star" sure has changed over the years. Now a days all you need is either a sex tape or get knocked up before you're 18. This cow is no more a star than bristol palin, one of the kardashian squanks or paris hilton. The kids from South Park must be true stars compared to these idiots, and not one of them have a sex tape, none of them have knocked up Wendy or Bebe, and aside from that smoking thing are pretty good kids.
