NEW YORK (AP) -- Eli Manning tells David Letterman this Super Bowl championship is for his teammates.

Manning made an appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman" on Monday, a day after the quarterback led the New York Giants to a 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots for his second title in five years.

The two-time Super Bowl MVP tells Letterman, "I think when you have one, that second one, you really do it for the other guys who've never had that experience. The first one just is wild."

Letterman says Eli is his favorite Manning, over brother Peyton, quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts who had neck surgery and missed the entire season. Letterman then presses the younger Manning on his brother's plans for next season.

Eli Manning tells Letterman that Peyton wants to play but didn't know where he would end up. Letterman says, "You know! Don't lie to me!"

As a Patriots fan I am still glad for Eli and glad that he was not subjected to a demeaning top 10 list

Letterman was probably joking about Eli knowing Peytons future. Does Eli know? Peyton probably doesn't know for sure, although he almost certainly has some ideas on the subject.

Eli Manning is a classy young man. And talented. If he isn't the reincarnation of Huck Finn I don't know who is.

The NFL, IS VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE A GROUP OF FINE YOUNG QUARTERBACKS, LIKE ELI, BRADY, BREES, AND ROGERS SETTING A POLISHED AND PROFESSIONAL AND CLASSY, AND HUMBLE STANDARD. ALL ARE GOOD FOR SPORTS IN AMERICA. The NBA, aka., "TTL" (the Thug League), would be well served to air interviews given by these guy in victory or defeat. The NFL is shining bright.

2nd title in 5 years? uhh, they won it 4 years ago HuffPo. But 5 and 4 are so close, it doesn't really matter...right? wow

Happy with the outcome of the game; fun to watch Eli last night, but my favorite part was during the monologue when Dave showed their "simulation" of the game highlights.

Eli said his receivers are trained dogs. The audience gasped and booed.

Not too bright, are you Eli?

He also added that "dogs are a man's best friend"... just like his awesome receivers are his best friends. I didn't have a problem with that... I doubt his recievers would take offense :)

Dogs may be best friends but they are not equal and always owned

As others have said a class guy and has always been. Ups, downs, just steady, level headed, does not get too high or too low. A positive attitude and knows he cannot do this on his own, always credits his teammates and coaches.

Although my heart was broken by the Pats' loss, I would not have wanted Brady to lose to anyone other than Eli. Eli is a very nice young man any way you slice it. He never scoffs at his opponents.

He is a class act as well as his whole family. As much as I "dislike" the Giants, being a Cowboy fan, it's not their fault the Cowboy suck and they beat them. As soon as they beat Dallas, they were my favorite for the playoffs.

How can you not love Eli? He looks more like a fraternity president than a great athlete. A nice Southern gentleman. Yet he's becoming a pro quarterback for the ages. And the Manning family is now the greatest sports family in American history. There's absolutely no competition that even vaguely comes close.

Eli is not necessarily a favorite in my neck of the woods, but I don't care. I like him and I'm happy with the outcome of the game.
