Matt Cain San Francisco Home For Sale: Giants Pitcher Lists Home At Loss (PHOTOS)

Uh oh. This week brings us good news for Noe Valley home buyers, but potentially bad news for Bay Area sports fans.

On Friday, Socketsite reported on a steal of a deal in Noe Valley -- the sale of a completely remodeled four-bedroom midcentury home for $1,795,000 -- that's $255,000 less than its sale price in 2008. The owner of the home: Giants ace pitcher Matt Cain.

(SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS)

Cain purchased the home in 2008 for $2,050,000, and first listed it for sale in September at $1,950,000. Once month later, the price dropped dramatically due to "motivated sellers." The property was pulled from the market in December, but was listed again on Friday for $1,795,000.

The home is a cool retro gem with loads of light and stellar San Francisco views. It also offers two master suites and two standard bedrooms, three stylish bathrooms, a solarium and sophisticated green appliances -- all in sun-drenched Noe Valley.

But since Cain becomes a free agent next year and the Giants have yet to offer him a long-term extension, the seemingly hurried sale is unsettling. Many critics of the Giants have argued that Cain has been undervalued for years in favor of fan-favorites. (We're pretty sure Cain has noticed that the Giants are willing to fork over $20 million a year for Tim Lincecum.) Does the listing indicate a possible trade? Or has Cain's 2012 salary ($15 million) just inspired sweeter digs? Here's hoping.

Blah exterior.

Note to realtor: Look up "curb appeal" and then put your thinking cap on.

The outside could really use a decent paint job. Sheesh, even MY house look better than that! I guess Matt or his realtor haven't ever heard of "curb appeal."

Matt Cain's house has a lot of issues. There are two rapists living one block away (see megan's law website), section 8 housing is a half block away and the home is in an area known for intense fog. On top of that the home has recently had several infestations of termites. These are serious concerns to me.

Matt cain's house is 1 block from two known rapists (check megan's law website), is half a block from section 8 housing and is right in the center of intense fog/wind that explains why the front of all the houses on that block are weathered. Also, Matt's house was hard hit with 3 types of termite infestations that required lots of chemical intervention.

It looks like a practical but ugly house in a great neighborhood. I'll give you two bits for it.
