"Caged" (Mon., 10 p.m. EST on MTV) fighter Wes may come across as nothing but a hard-partying country boy, but he is also a committed father who put himself through college to get a good job so he can make a decent life for him and his young son, Jaxon.

Wes' big fight in New Orleans was scheduled on the same day as Jaxon's first birthday and despite the anguish of missing his son's big day, Wes decided to go ahead and fight.

To do that he first had to lose six pounds to make it into a lower weight division. Already struggling with a bum thumb, Wes just about managed to sweat the pounds off, but ended up going into the fight thirsty.

Was the fight worth all the sacrifice?

After a long and bruising three rounds, the judges were unanimous: Wes lost. Unbowed in defeat, he acknowledged how tough his opponent was and he told the crowd, "Jaxon, happy birthday! Daddy loves you."

Follow the fighters on "Caged" Mondays, 10 p.m. EST on MTV.

I think it was indeed best that Daniel and Britani ended their relationship - it was doomed from the start, so why string it on any longer which would make it even harder to break up after? The scene was captured well and still very emotional (the moody song "Blue Jeans" by Lana Del Rey definitely added to this) but I'm glad they decided to remain friends.

As for Wes, maybe it's karma for missing the b-day that he lost? I dunno I want to like him and it was touching at the end I guess, but still it's your son's first birthday how important is your career? I would think if he had confidence in his skills he would've just missed the fight knowing he could prove himself at another time...
