Pre-Valentine's Day Tip: 'Woo At The Zoo' Has Cute Animals, Knowledge, Chocolate, Booze And A Love Train
WASHINGTON -- A perfect pre-Valentine's Day outing for the nerdy animal-lover in your life.
Saturday marks the fourth annual "Woo at the Zoo" event at the National Zoo. The indulgent part: hors d'oeuvres and brownies, plus a cash bar. For an extra fee ($8 per couple, $5 for brave singles), a "Love Train" will ferry visitors on a trip around the zoo.
The nerdy part: lectures on animal mating. Which, given last year's adorable baby boom, we'd say the National Zoo seems to know a thing or three about.
The details: Woo at the Zoo is at the National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Ave. NW) on Saturday, from 4-10 p.m., in the Visitors Center auditorium. Lectures are at 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $11 for Friends of the Zoo members, $22 for the general public. This is an adults-only event, open to people 21 and up.
