The Detroit International Bridge Co. said today that it plans to remove the controversial Pier 19 ramp to a potential second span to the Ambassador Bridge to comply with court orders and keep billionaire businessman Manuel (Matty) Moroun out of jail.

The construction work to remove the Pier 19 began today, the company said.
