The Japanese, Germans, Koreans and Chinese are busily perfecting this technology, and creating hybrid or electric powered economy cars, and full sized sedans and suv's. If the US auto industry does not compete, they will be left in the dust, and filing for bankruptcy again. This is for their own good. They successfully fought every effort by previous administrations to force them to develop green technologies, and they paid the price.

Most people cannot begin to imagine what it would be like without pollution control laws. I can only vaguely perceive it. Go to a classic car show. Get up close to those that are running. It will make your eyes water. Now, imagine every vehicle on the road today producing that level of pollution. I, also can't imagine sitting in stop and go traffic, commuting to work and not wanting an electric car.

They already tried this once. Dealers had to bring in a bunch of golf carts and sell them below cost because hardly anyone wanted the electric cars.

It is time to end the oil monopoly on transportation fuels. Bring on the electric, flex-fuel, hybrid, CNG, LNG and hydrogen fueled vehicles. The price of oil keeps rising. We need alternatives to oil fueled vehicles.

Who cares? by then, California will be part of Mexico. At least the Southern part.
It is the only State that the population growth comes strictly from foreigners, mostly Mexican and other Hispanics.
