CBS' 'Person To Person' Returns With George Clooney (VIDEO)

Person To Person

CBS News is kicking off the revival of its famous "Person To Person" series with George Clooney on Wednesday night.

The network announced the return of the 1950s program, which was made famous with legendary broadcaster Edward R. Murrow at the helm, in December. Like Murrow, "CBS This Morning" host Charlie Rose and "60 Minutes" correspondent Lara Logan, who are based in New York, will be taking viewers inside the homes of public figures and newspapers via satellite.

CBS News said that the program would get up close and personal with guests, and touted the "freedom and spontaneity" of the format. One teaser for the premiere episode certainly seems to showcase that side of the series.

A behind-the-scenes look shows camera crews setting up in Clooney's California home, off-camera bloopers and playful banter between Clooney and the CBS hosts. Rose and Clooney even traded jabs. "This is an amazing, wonderful woman I'm sitting next to," Rose said, referring to Logan.

"Then, I don't know why she's spending time with you," Clooney joked.

I thought it was of a poor taste to show these celebrities in their massive homes. Great going considering the economical times we are in. Look at me I'm the 1%. Stopped watching after 5 minutes.

I enjoyed it, though the editing was a bit annoying. when I don't notice the cuts here and there, and a program is seamless it's more enjoyable. But it was light fare, and on a Wednesday night I'm not going to complain about that. I'd watch again.

Lara is an amazing woman, and slightly attractive to boot! (latter comment understated).

I'd rather see the return of Edward R Murrow's other show, 'See It Now'. The most ironic part of the program 'Person To Person' is that Murrow hated it and yet it was the show that viewers responded to much more passionately than 'See It Now'. However, while Murrow preferred to deliver strait investigative news programs, he also set the model as to how celebrity interviews take place. If I were to compare 'Person To Person' with any program currently airing, it would be 'Charlie Rose' on PBS.

If CBS can keep to the same standards of Murrow (my personal hero) and not pander to ratings but instead use the television as a learning tool, then I will be more than happy to tune into said program.

In the 1950s "Person To Person" was great with Edward R. Murrow. I hope this one will be at least half as good. When will it be broadcast?

Oh wow, really? Every one of those has given back to those less fortunate in ways too many to count. And every single one of them said how fortunate they were, and did not see to take it for granted or lightly. Not one "bragged". They all worked hard to get where they are, and have huge hearts. Buffett has lived and worked in the same place for over 50 years, and even my 10 year old said he had a "nice" office, but nothing fancy. clooney has lived in the same house for over 20 years. And Bon Jovi? When you're that big of a celebrity and you have four kids, I'd hope that you could find a home that allows you privacy as his does. Yet there he was, washing dishes in his charity restaurant. Yeah, bragging indeed.

Sounds like you're jealous. George has certainly become better with age. See "The American," and you'll see what I mean. I just found out he made a film out of a book I just read, "The Good German," (Joseph Kanon) and I can't wait to see it.

Lara Logan has a well deserved reputation as a straight forward no nonsense reporter, especially abroad covering wars and turmoil. I hope that she maintains her integrity by not conducting fawning visits with entertainment celebrities. Charlie Rose is a nice guy but...
