Karl Lagerfeld Apologizes For Calling Adele 'Fat'

Karl Lagerfeld must be tired from trying to pull his foot out of his mouth all the time.

A dreadful-seeming Lagerfeld quote hit the Internet this week, and though Karl's not exactly known for mincing words, this offering from an interview with the Metro newspaper, which he guest-edited on Tuesday, did seem a little out of taste:

"The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice."

Oof.

But now Karl, perhaps unsurprisingly, is backtracking, saying his words were taken out of context. Here's how he defends himself in an update in today's Metro paper:

"I'd like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought. What I said was in relation to Lana Del Rey and the sentence has since been taken out of context from how it was originally published. I actually prefer Adele, she is my favorite singer and I am a great admirer of her. I lost over 30 kilos over 10 years ago and have kept it off. I know how it feels when the press is mean to you in regards to your appearance. Adele is a beautiful girl. She is the best. And I can't wait for her next CD."

Now that Kaiser Karl's backtracking, we're suspecting that he just might hire Adele to play the next Chanel show -- because he did the same exact thing with Beth Ditto.

I for one, am glad that Adele has not given in to the Hollywood stereotype. You don't need to be 90 lbs to be beautiful or successful. She has such an amazing voice and classic beauty. She is a lady in every sense. I applaud her for being so secure with who she is.

She make forgive but never forget, Adele you are beautiful! and i dont care about your weight. You have such a amazingg real voice! not like other singers/rapers they have a bad voice in live shows and good voice on a radio. But you have a amazing voice in a live show & on the radio

I like Adele, and it is time to listen to her voice, not her figure. I don't care heavy or thin, I LIKE HER AND SHE IS PRETTY TO ME. We have some really pretty heavier woman, besides she is not that big. I think his remark was so uncalled for and uncouth.

Mr. Lagerfeld I could say worse about you, but I won't be as shallow. You are what is wrong with the world. You can apologize, but it still got out. Like in court, when they say strike it, what do you want to bet they still remember. Don't be so arrogant!

Eeuuuuu - Who does he think he is to make a negative comment about anyone else?
Since he feels so qualified to judge appearance, he really should look in the mirror & see what everyone else sees when they look at him.
Obviously, he isn't familiar with humility or reality.

oh...and Karl you look gay. NO one cares what you think, anyway. All you're worried about is getting recognition....so you do it by making negative comments. No one wants to buy you products. Too expensive and too ridiculous. The models used these days look like sticks...why dont you get brave and use REAL women as models!!!!!
