Wolf Blitzer Compares Caucus To Syrian Uprising, Says 'OMG' (VIDEO)

Wolf Blitzer

First Posted: 02/ 8/2012 7:34 am Updated: 02/ 8/2012 7:57 am

Wolf Blitzer had quite the election night on Tuesday.

You might not have noticed it, but the buttoned-up CNN anchor has been letting his hair down recently. From his repeat performance at the Soul Train awards to his historic chat with Kermit the Frog, Mr. Blitzer has seemingly decided to show his lighter side a little more. Now, he's embracing his inner g-chatter by exclaiming "OMG!" when there's a particularly close vote in a GOP election contest.

He had previously done so when covering the insanely close vote in the Iowa caucuses. While covering the then-close race in Colorado on Wednesday (Rick Santorum eventually won), Blitzer apparently cried "OMG!" in the commercial break. An amused Anderson Cooper asked him to explain himself, which Blitzer happily did. He still said "OMG" in the same way he would if he was announcing the president's arrival to the State of the Union.

Speaking about Iowa, Blitzer said, "that was worthy of OMG and right now in Colorado there's an OMG going on." Oh, Wolf.

Watch:

Of course, being Wolf Blitzer, he can still pull out the odd line. Speaking to Cooper at a different point in the evening, Blitzer compared the caucus the network was watching (the other cable news networks having decided not to change their regular programming for the occasion) to the uprising in Syria.

"Every time we see these little actions, these caucuses unfold, democracy in action, as we're speaking, people are dying in Syria because they would like to have a caucus, they'd like to have a primary," he said. "They can't have one. We're having ours here in the United States. Let's keep some perspective on what's going on."

I've noticed that Huffington Post always claims to quote someone, but doesn't ever quite get the words right. Compare the quotes for Wolf to what he actually says in the video. It's odd.

Huffpo - I realize this is a stupid complaint - but here goes anyway.

Re: the headline "....very unique...". No such thing. Unique does not have degrees. Something is either unique (one of a kind) or it is not.

The worst thing about Blitzer is, since he must , I guess by contract, appear as CNN"s most intellectual and informed spokesmodel, all the rest of them have to be, I guess by contract, a bit more dim than Wolf.

Dear HP Subs. There is no such thing as "very unique"
'Unique' is absolute. There are no degrees of absoluteness.

The headline.

I see Blitzer's conservative leanings but I'd have a hard time imagining that Anderson Cooper is a log cabin republican. He values honesty too much, and I think he has integrity. No way is Coop a GOPer.

Why does Anderson Cooper start out by saying, "Welcome black."? Is this related to "Governor Mormon?

I don't know abou tyou, but the CBB coverage of individual caucus rooms and zooming in on the manual counting of votes was terribly boring.

Wolf thinks a lot of himself............he is a legend in his own mind!

He is also trying to act younger and really "with it"................and failing so miserably!

" Let's keep some perspective on what's going on."

That from the guy who sense of self importance leads him to call his daily news show, "The Situation Room". He imagines that the world is in constant crisis and he is at the center with the latest about the greatest!

What does this have to do with Syria?

Israel want Iran's chief ally gone to make an attack on Iran easier and to cut off supply routes to Hezbollah another ally of Iran.

Go get another conspiracy theory. Am getting tired of this one. It has been disproved over and over. Yet the nuts still bring it up as a fact. Tired of this style of supposed journalism that claims it knows and only it knows. get a life and see what is real.

Meir Dagan the former chief of Mossad and other public Israeli sources have been quoted in Haaretz to say as much.

They have admitted concern about massive rocket attacks from Hezbollah in retaliation for a possible Israeli attack on Iran.

Most people would accept as true that Hezollah is supplied and re-supplied via Syria. Peres and Senior members of the Israeli Cabinet have publicly stated a desire to attack Iran with urgency but others like Dagan have expressed caution because of the response of Iran's strategic allies namely Hezbollah and Syria and Hamas to a lesser extent.

Quote from Haaretz.

"Former Mossad chief Meir Dagan said in a television interview on Tuesday that if Israel attacks Iran, it will be dragged into a regional war.

According to Dagan, Iran, HEZBOLLAH and Hamas will respond with massive rocket attacks on Israel. In that scenario, SYRIA may join in the fray, Dagan said on the television program “Uvda”.

"Very unique." Don't you learn about that working on the high school newspaper?

Have you ever noticed that his idea of modulation and vocal variety is to simply talk louder? He never changes tone or pitch... just loud or louder.

Every day I get texted one of the 300 most missed words on the SAT (just for fun, as I am old). Amazingly I received today's word, right after I clicked off my comment, and it is so appropriate for Blitzer: Soporific--inducing sleep, or sleepiness.

Oh, right, Wolf.

Way to inconspicuously slip in a plug for the NeoCons.
