I used to love Arby's back in the day. They came to Brooklyn last year, then they were gone in a flash and I never got to see if the food tasted the way it used to.

The only thing Arby's could do to get me back inside is return to the real roast beef that they used in the 60's instead of the crap that they use now. For them to even consider what they currently serve as roast beef shows what they think of their customers. They use to put so much real beef on the sandwich that we would order a second bun and split the meat in half to have two for a few cents more. Served medium rare and juicy carved fresh for each sandwich. If you missed it you missed a real treat.

There are several places along the East Coast (Ocean City, Maryland comes to mind) where you can get a real roast beef sandwich...a real piece of beef, cooked over a pit fire. Pit beef they call it. It is far superior to the processed stuff Arby's calls roast beef. And the price is not much higher than you already pay for an Arby's roast beef. If they don't want to switch to a real roast of beef entirely, they could add it to the menu as a premium option along side their regular, processed beef. If they went this route they could really dominate and capture more customers. Real pit beef is excellent.

I'm afraid their brand name has languished for so long that there's no point in trying

to resuscitate it at this point.

Whoever bought it, made a mistake.

I haven't eaten at Arby's in many years. After reading this article, on a whim I visited the Arby's a mile or so away. Disappointing, to say the least. There was no one inside or at the drive through, thus my fries were cold. I had a sandwich, not their regular roast beef. It was admittedly a bit better than that. It wasn't super though. It made my bread soggy, and there was too much mayonnaise-like sauce on it.

They definitely need to retool.

They should get back to their basics. Bring back the Super Arby. Put more roast beef on the sandwich, even if it makes it cost more. Spread the meat out over the bun instead of just plopping a pre-weighed pile of meat onto the bun. Toast the buns. Get good fries. Be Arby's, don't try to be McDonalds.

Good suggestions, although if they raise their prices, it will be their death knell. Arby's is already overpriced for what you get, and the "meat" is a substandard hackjob. I like it every once in a while, but near ten dollars for two Mediums (or Mids, as they sometimes call them), is ridiculous.

A former colleague once regaled us with stories of working at an Arby's during his early college days. He only lasted two weeks before getting the axe.

One day, our friend described, he dropped an Arby's beach ball-sized roast beef round on the kitchen floor and it bounced right back up...higher than a basketball. (Never have seen a "real" side of beef do that.) He served it up anyway, dust particles, grease fragments & all. And no complaints from the customers. (Oh, man.)

No, thanks. I'll pass...forever.

He's exagerating about it bouncing.
However, we all know the sort of staff fast food and restaurants employ.
Food dropped. Served? Unclean hands? Gloves touch trash and then food? Cross contamination? Improper temperatures? Unclean surfaces? Cooking surfaces and utensils unclean? Greasy floors? Pest problems?
Still feel like eating out?

Great! I hope the relaunch includes initiatives such as making their food edible.
