At the molecular level there is no line that separates you from me. No separation between me and anything else. We are all dependent on each other. I find it unfortunate that the very people who call themselves _______ (pick one, Christian, Hebrew, Buddhist, Muslim or Hindu, or any other) and who profess this respect for life, but does'nt live that belief. Is it human nature that won't allow us to truly see each other as a part of ourselves? We are a part of each other, interconnected and if we disrespect our neighbor then we disrespect ourselves. When we do violence to others that violence comes back into our own lives. Philosophically I'm Buddhist. Like many I have cherry picked those things that resonates with me. I try hard to respect all, but fail like most humans do. But when I fail, I apologize, pick myself up and try to be a better person. We all need to step back and not let the violence that surrounds us suck us in. I know its hard with all the nastiness of the political scene, but it's more important now then at any other time, in my opinion.

Here's a man, Father Greg Boyle, just doing good in a little tiny corner of the planet, helping the hopeless, loving the unlovble and wow the commenting on this thread with attacks to him are so sad. In the words of Bob Dylan "None so blind as those with eyes that cannot see." And the 'Turn the other cheek" Bible stuff, it means just moving your cheek forces your eyes to see from another point of view, not get slapped in the face. What we do around here, God or no God is BE of Service if there is such a sense in the heart of man to help anyone lest fortunate. Service is evolving. Ignoring and critizing is not. So basically: We are all part of the problem or part of the solution and the Solution is NOT-NOT HATRED and NOT HELPING. We all gather and meet and have fellowship. I am not religious, do not go to church, but there is a human spirit in all of us, Fear covered by Anger, or Kind, or Mean, Loving or Hateful but we all got a vibe aka Spirit~!! Peace y'all And Thank YOU Greg Boyle for your consistent efforts to make a difference.

Yeah, right. Go sell your BS to someone else. Here's two minutes of Atheist Wisdom:
Human evolution is a continuing reality. I live in Los Angeles, too. Scammers like you only replace one gang for another gang, both equally dangerous. Here's a thought... Quit your gang and become a good person. 2012: The Year of Atheism.

Okay smarty-pants. Please explain to me why no one can use any form of a "god" defense in ANY U. S. court of law?

It's amazing to watch so many people spamming bible verses on here thinking they are "spreading the gospel." Do they realize that turns off people who are on the fence or curious about God? Attraction works better than promotion. Instead of being so concerned with the literal letter of the bible, try being more concerned with the MESSAGE! The verses should be saved for those who are already willing to listen! First, attract people with your deeds and the words will follow.

I hate to burst you cynical bubble, but all the proceeds went to the Homeboy Industries and to the gang members whose lives he's saved over and over again. He is a priest and doesn't want any fame or money only to love and serve those that society has written off as useless and hopeless. He is a man of peace, love, compassion, dignity and kindness, Open your heart, we can all learn from someone as generous in love as he. Also, he has leukemia and still works 24 7 to help others. 2012 the year people learn to love one another as I have love You.

I read his book from his years working with the gangs. This guy is an inspiration. I'd join a church again if they lived and preached Christianity the way this guy lives it.

So you admit you prefer the crutch of religion to the harder work of an analytical mind and thought, how very intellectually lazy.

As could not be more clearly stated than by the primary author of the Constitution itself, James Madison, in his letter to Wm. Bradford, Jr., Apr. 1, 1774:

"Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise, every expanded prospect."

Glory not in the wisdom of others, rather in giving glory, giving thanks, Praising God for His Wisdom Freely given. Blessed are those who's ears have heard and understood. Once one has been giving such Grace and Blessing, one must act in serving. Like the fig tree that had no fruit, Jesus said if in 2 years when one returns it has no fruit still, pull it out at its root. Love all.
