A potential tragedy has turned into a miracle.

Kevin Brennan, a New York City Police Officer, was shot in the head Jan. 31 while chasing a homicide suspect in Brooklyn. Now, merely days later, Brennan is walking, MyFoxNY.com reports.

"He's up and walking," Deputy Inspector Michael Kemper said at a public meeting late Wednesday, the New York Post reports. "It's a miracle," he said.

Brennan had been hit at very close range, according to MyFoxNY.com, and the bullet had entered his skull on the right side, leaving a hole. After Brennan's story made the news, the good wishes began pouring in.

The day before the New York Giants took the Super Bowl title, New York Daily News reports that Brennan received a book from Giants coach Tom Coughlin. The message inside the book read:

“Kevin: We know this is a tough time right now. We wanted you to know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers! Small gains, Kevin — one day at a time! Thanks for your service to our community! Go Giants! Tom Coughlin.”

This week, it was big miracles for both New Yorkers.
