Will Ferrell Announces Starting Lineups At Hornets-Bulls Game, Adds Ridiculous Trivia (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/ 9/2012 9:40 am Updated: 02/ 9/2012 10:02 am

Will Ferrell

He's played plenty of ridiculous sports figures in his movies, but after Wednesday night's Hornets-Bulls game in New Orleans, Will Ferrell can now add real-life NBA announcer to his resume.

Ferrell offered his services introducing the starting lineups of both teams before the game, and it went about as well as you could expect. See, Ferrell is so busy working on his new political comedy "Dog Fight" with Zach Galifianakis that he just didn't have the time to research every basketball player's alma mater, hobbies and highlights. So instead, he just made some stuff.

Classic Ferrell.

"He doesn't speak a lick of English" and "After retirement he wants to be rodeo clown" are just a couple of the outlandish "facts" the "Blades Of Glory" star rattles off in the clip above. Watch him introduce the Hornets' starting five in his signature bravado there and click here to watch him do his full announcement.

My favorite Will moment goes way back to SNL when he was an announcer and the teleprompter crashed. He wound up chopping the head off his buddy and had torches lit up on set. Laughed out loud at that one.

Will ought to do a tour of all arenas where he does that.

That was funny! I love his recent series of on-the-spot comedy events, it's almost like Andy Kaufman, performance art rather than traditional comedy. But this was like his Jackie Moon character! Bad movie, good character.

I've always liked the comedy of Will Ferrell. I think he's one of the most funniest person I've ever seen. He was ridiculously funny lastnight. I would love to seem him bring that act to Madison Square Garden one night. It would be a instant success.

Oops I've stumbled into the critics section---none of whom are funny. Buh-bye.

Exactly as funny as I thought it would be. Will Ferrell is to comedy what root canal is to dentistry.

In that he is and was critically important in restoring comedy to its highest potential?

They were playing this on the radio this morning as I was driving into work. Fortunately it was before I got onto I-95, as I surely would have gotten inot an accident from all the laughing I was doing.

Not "hilarious"--only marginally funny. used to love Will's work, but he's just not that funny anymore-

-bring back the laughs, Will, cuz you are one of the best
