Metro's Yellow Line Will Run Through Rosslyn This Weekend

WASHINGTON -- If you're at Metrorail's L'Enfant Plaza station on Saturday or Sunday and are looking for a Yellow Line train to Virginia, you'll have to head downstairs to the Blue and Orange Line platform.

Why? The Yellow Line will essentially follow the Blue Line in a case of weekend track work and rerouting that will also affect the Green, Red and Orange lines.

The biggest disruption will be on the Orange Line, where shuttle buses will replace trains between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church stations. Train service frequency will be at normal weekend levels between East Falls Church and New Carrollton. The track shut down begins at 10 p.m. Friday and will conclude by the opening of the system on Monday.

On the Red Line, single tracking will be in effect in two sections, between the Van Ness and Friendship Heights station and the New York Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue stations starting at 10 p.m. Friday. Trains will leave the Shady Grove and Glenmont terminals every 15 minutes. Additional trains will run between Van Ness and New York Avenue on Saturday and Sunday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Green Line trains will share the same track in two sections: between the Naylor Road and Branch Avenue stations and between the L'Enfant Plaza and Mount Vernon Square stations starting at 10 p.m. Friday and continuing through the rest of the weekend.

After 10 p.m. Friday, there will be reduced Yellow Line service between the Fort Totten and Huntington stations.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, Yellow Line trains between Virginia and the District of Columbia will be rerouted via the Blue Line through Rosslyn. Yellow Line trains will run between the Huntington terminal and the Stadium-Armory station, meaning that Orange, Blue and Yellow Line trains will service stations between Stadium-Armory and Rosslyn. The Yellow Line's Potomac River bridge will be closed.
