Barbara West, Suspected 73-Year-Old Getaway Driver, Arrested In Grand Junction After Botched Burglary (VIDEO)
A 73-year-old woman in Grand Junction, Colorado, faces charges related to driving a getaway car for two criminals there.
The Associated Press reports Barbara West was arrested Wednesday after police responded to a burglary in progress and pursued an SUV speeding away from the crime scene. Grand Junction police say two men ran from West's vehicle but have not been apprehended.
"The second subject who jumped out got his foot caught underneath the right rear tire of the SUV for a short time," the arrest affidavit said. "But he was able to free himself, leaving behind one of this tennis shoes as he fled." West refused to identify the men, according to the Daily Sentinel.
Reached for contact by police, the woman who owns the SUV said West asked to borrow her vehicle so she could go to church.
West posted a $7,500 bond Thursday at the Mesa County Jail. Her charges include trying to elude police and burglary, reports KMGH.
