Bruce Beresford-Redman, 'Survivor' Producer, Wants Murder Charges Dropped, Lawyers Say

CANCUN, Mexico — Lawyers for a U.S. reality television producer facing trial for allegedly murdering his wife at a Mexican resort called two witnesses Friday to testify they saw the victim leave her hotel to go shopping three days before she was found dead.

Prosecutors have said Monica Beresford-Redman did not leave the hotel and was killed there by her husband, former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman. He has said his wife left the hotel and disappeared.

Testifying Friday on the second day of a preliminary hearing, a taxi driver and craft-store owner said they saw the victim leave the hotel, take a cab and buy about $100 worth of items.

The body of the victim was found in a sewer cistern during a family vacation in April 2010.

Bruce Beresford-Redman says he is innocent, and his lawyers said Thursday that they hope to persuade a judge to drop the charges.

Jaime Cancino Leon, an attorney for Beresford-Redman, said Thursday that he had found inconsistencies in the prosecution case, but did not elaborate.

The Quintana Roo state attorney general, Gaspar Armando Garcia Torres, said he expects the judge to order the case to go to trial.

I'm sure he does want the charges dropped, he savagely murdered his wife in the same hotel room as his small children watched, and carried her out of the room under the guise of darkness, throwing his children's mother in a sewer. I'm sure he doesn't want to serve one day in a Mexican prison and is already trying to get his father to help him escape the country again. He's a monster, he needs to serve every day of his sentence and more. He's getting off easy in Mexico, doing that crime in CA he'd have to serve at least 15 years, if not more. Rot in prison, where your kids can forget you.

I like how they are trying to involve witnesses seeing her go shopping. If she indeed did go out and go shopping and he didn't physically kill her himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he paid someone to do it. Although I do think that he did it himself.

OMG he might be innocent... are you kidding me?? First off he was taking a vacation with his wife in a foreign country... how many husbands leave their wife alone to do whatever when they take a vacation to "work" on their marriage??? Then... she was strangled... NOT stabbed with a knife, or shot like most murders that occur on tourist are.. THEN..she wasn't raped... or even robbed... why would the "perpetrator" even want to murder an innocent person when they got NOTHING in return? THEY WOULDN"T. She was killed in another place than where they found her... so, you mean to say someone is going to randomly kill her then hide her body and dump it later on in a drainage ditch close to her hotel? It was the husband.. and did you see the woman he was cheating with... TOTALLY NASTY. The wife was so much prettier.. the GF (Joy Pierce) was UGLY! She had an underbite, wore heavy slutttty makeup AND was BALD! Yeah, bright pink lipstick, heavy raccoon eyeliner...and bald to look "edgy"..LOL she was also "older"..not young at all.. When I saw her I thought she was a desperate fan or something, but it was his GF! LOL..I can't believe he threw his life away for something so pathetic and haggard looking.

great comments, but if he was cheating and his wife gets murdered; he left himself open by showing that he was unfaithful; and maybe not protecting his wife. So even if he was innocent; he is caught in a predicament because he was dating outside of his marriage. Wife had to be isolated to get strangled, wonder when the husband become aware she was missing?

He didn't " love his wife so very much" . He cheated on her. He loved his new girlfriend so very much.
He took her to Mexico to murder her. Period. Only he thought he could Get Away with it like that boy got away with the murder of Natalie Holloway.
But these Mexican police & prosecutors are to smart to allow that to happen, I Hope.
