CPAC 2012: Conservatives Rap About America, Don Colonial-Style Wigs (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/10/2012 12:32 pm Updated: 02/10/2012 5:42 pm

WASHINGTON -- At the Conservative Political Action Conference, most of the music wafting from the stage and through the halls is country music, or some other campaign-style rock songs. But on Tuesday morning, attendees of the Red Carpet Blogger Awards received a special surprise: a conservative rap performance.

Wearing track suits and colonial-style wigs, Steve Crowder, a Fox News contributor and comedian, and Chris Loesch, the husband of conservative commentator Dana Loesch, warmed the crowd up with a rap about "Mr. America." Behind them was their own music video of the song, in which they wore more colonial-style clothing and stood in front of a building that appeared to be some sort of fortress.

The performance sure woke up the crowd, which turned out at 9:30 a.m. to honor the prominent conservative bloggers receiving awards that morning. People were waving their hands in the air like they just didn't care, and one woman even stood up and shook her hips.

There was one particularly awkward moment in the performance, when they used the word "knickers," which happens to sound a lot like a racially loaded word beginning with the letter "n." The music then stopped and they joked, "What? Knickers? I can say knickers!" At that moment, coincidentally, a technician -- who happened to be one of the only African-American individuals in the room and was working at the front at the time -- stood up and walked away. (Watch in the above video at 1:50.)

I'm the woman in the video who stood up and "shook her hips." My name is Cynthia Yockey and my blog is A Conservative Lesbian. Steven and I are friends, so of course I would dance with him as he was singing. The black guy was pretty obviously a technician who was monitoring the performance from a laptop on the floor -- which is why he was on his knees with his head bowed for most of the song. Steven laid a trap to catch race baiters. It appears to have been very successful.

I have never seen so many white people dancing and singing and shaking bald heads and prolapsed rears in many years... 60 years in fact...
What is this country returning to?
(I liked how the sole black dude was like- "I'M OUT!"- smart man in that crowd)

Crowder is a regular on one of the boards I follow on a daily basis. I'd say this HuffPo 'article' (using the term loosely) is an attempt to smear Crowder. I find his videos (I recommend readers here look for the original videos, not snippets, etc.) quite refreshing and honest. He uses humor as a political statement, but backs it up with facts and investigations. Claiming he's racist (or using a word that you are trying to portray as racist....a pathetic attempt in my opinion) is blatant pandering to your own political viewpoints (and those of HuffPo in general).

I would've posted this 5 minutes earlier, but I was staring at the screen in a trance of disbelief for that time.

Nice story Amanda.

Too bad it doesn't have an ounce of truth to it. In your bio, it says you are a Senior Political reporter and Manging Politcs Editor? So, you are a "reporter"? How does that work? Can anyone become a reporter? Objectivity and truth would seem to be a requirement, but since they are not, I know a bunch of people that would like to apply for a senior political reporters job.

"Steve Crowder, a Fox News contributor and comedian"

IS there such a thing as a Republican "comedian"? Haven't heard one yet.

There's this young man, Dennis Miller who's very able what with his clever word play and all. . Another fellow, Jeff Dunham, seems to be quite popular. He is quite proficient in the underappreciated art of ventriloquism. And I can assure you there are many others of similar, or even superior talent. We find them to be quite amusing. In fact, a hearty huzzah to them all!

Here's a new rap for them:

There once was a group called CPACers
Who were really just a bunch of old white cr@ckers
Hatin' on me
Hatin' on you
Hatin' on all but their rich backers.

All the homies in the house say "wha-at?"
All the homies in the house say "wha-at?"
All the homies in the house say "wha-at?"
Will a nurse please go and turn their hearing aids up??

CPACs lamp like gangstas in the hood
(ya know, the white pointy ones that they think look good)
If you're black or you're brown or a woman or a gay
Throw your hands in the air, sayin' K_K_K

Funny stuff. Especially the part about the KKK. You know that it was formed and founded by Democrats, ritght?
But seriously, what is your position regarding hate against particular groups of people, based solely on a common trait they share? From reading this, I have to assume you're for it. Sad, really.
It's not funny if it's hate. Agree?

No one does hate like the gopoop! Isn't there a white supremist scheduled to speak or has he already spoken? Peter Brimelow is a white nationalist who spews his h8red of everything not white. Yes the right are nothing more than a toned down arm of the KKK!

You are responding to a stroy that Amanda did in which she fabricated a story. They didn't say anything racial, nothing inappropaite, but you go ahead and blindly believe her lies.

Way to go, and nice rap. Hate much?

Typical progressives. Ready, fire aim.

She "..fabricated a story"? I didn't see one word in the column that didn't happen in the video. Ms. Terkel even noted that the technician "coincidentally" got up and walked off.
Anyway, not funny, not controversial, just embarrassing to watch.
I was reminded of the movie 'Cool Hand Luke' when the guy says "Somebody should stop this thing".

race is the only issue that really drives conservatives...of course the only way they can vent is by posting obvious garbage like these two no talents...they represent 95% of the GOP supporters...white, poor but backing multi billionaires and their agenda's while crossing their fingers as they put their financial future into $50 worth of scratch offs.

So you have a problem with poor white people? Wow. It seems like race drives you, too. Maybe you should switch Parties. So much for the 99%, I guess.
Thanks DC, your comment was good for a laugh. I love your ironic sense of humor.

another example of 'what has this party got to offer'?

Really H.P. ?!?!?

I can understand the effort to provide equal news coverage but this has absolutely nothing in it I would consider news. I feel it only further embellishes the right to party like it's 1999 and the media will report as such.

So now in addition to using a persons first name and commenting how our President likes to play basketball, using words that sound like other words is racist.

You guys really have gone off the deep end.

Wow, I cant believe how many people are over reacting to what was clearly meant to be humorous. There are legions of Bill Maher fans here so you have to have low standards for comedy already. Just because a word rhymes with a word you find offensive does not mean you should write an article about it. You are just trying to rile people up, and from the looks up it, it works.
Everybody, seriously calm down and go read your Dilbert calenders. Save your fake outrage for something not so ridiculous.
08:14 AM on 02/11/2012
Say what you will the connotation was direct and obvious no matter how someone tries to smooth it over or allude to victimization or fake outrage.

It is a good thing you know exactly what he meant by it. Since he didn't call anyone it, who cares? It is a word, that he didn't even use. He used a word close to it to talk about his pants, which funny enough, are called "Knickers".
It is totally fake outrage and it is pathetic. Have any of you taken exception to the basketball team, The Knicks?
Seriously, we have gone so far off the tracks with this PC garbage that people can not even use words that could slightly resemble a racial taunt. You know like "Black Cloud" "Black hole" or "Reneged". That is the world you are encouraging by buying into this ridiculous hype.
09:57 PM on 02/11/2012
What a leap you have to make to draw your "racism" comments. But you and Amanda have somehow done it, against all logic, all evidence and all context.

Unbelievable that a person could willingly delude themselves to this degee.

Conservative Political Angry Clowns (CPAC). Get ready for a little biting, a little clawing, and a lot of sex and drinking. Nothing can stop this political circus from the abuse of President Barack Obama and the abandonment of the 99%. These clowns are propelled into acrobatic feats in an extended battle with each other, and actually do nothing to help the economy.
