It's the audition of a lifetime for Karen Cartwright on NBC's "Smash." The young aspiring Broadway performer, played by Katharine McPhee, is up for the role of Marilyn Monroe and she's bringing her A-game.

Karen is up against a Broadway veteran, Ivy Lynn, played by Megan Hilty. Viewers have already started picking sides, something Hilty said makes for great TV. "I've already gotten t-shirts sent to me," Hilty told HuffPost TV. "I plan on rocking my Team Karen t-shirt full force. Every show needs a good rivalry, right?"

In this preview from the second episode, "The Callback," (airing Mon., Feb. 13) watch McPhee's Karen turn into Marilyn Monroe before your eyes as she performs the original song "20th Century Fox Mambo."

"Smash" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.

She sounds great! I personally love her cover of Adele's "Rumor Has It." http://www.nbc.com/smash/video/rumor-has-it/1384854

I actually Ivy better than McPhee's character, which is pretty one-dimensional to me. Plus I think the actress playing Ivy has a better voice.

Megan Hilty is NO Marilyn Monroe. She looks more like a female impersonator then the legendary MM. A cartoon version more suitable for Halloween then a serious Broadway production. Put a blond wig and a beauty mark on a pretty girl and you just have that...a girl in a wig. Monroe had a magic that cannot be captured successfully no matter how studied the attempt might be. Marilyn was one of a kind.

McPhee should have played Marilyn in that movie that Michelle Williams just did. Williams was an awful choice to play Marilyn as she looks NOTHING like her with her chipmunk cheeks.

These two women could not hold a candle next to MM.

I think KM has a beautiful voice, But I have to go with Hilty as Marilyn. She has the moves and the hips. LOL! Both are beautiful girls but Katherine looks more like a Jane Russell, high cheek bones and all.
