Nicolas Cage Stops By 'Weekend Update' To 'Get In The Cage' With Andy Samberg (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/12/2012 1:35 pm Updated: 02/12/2012 1:40 pm

"In the Cage," Andy Samberg's recurring "Weekend Update" segment where he interviews celebrities as Nicolas Cage, took a turn for the amazing Saturday when he was joined by a surprise guest who turned out to be the actual Nicolas Cage. We mean, his clone. His identical clone.

They covered it all: Nic's voice, Nic's acting style... Ghost Rider 2. And all in all we have to say, Cage was a pretty amazing sport about the whole thing.

Watch the video above and you'll see what we mean.

Once upon a time Nicholas Cage was a great actor.... now he's just a tool..... but one not without a sense of humor.

Let me get this straight. You wrote a 6 sentence synopsis of the SNL bit and you managed to use the word "Amazing" twice in reference to Nick Cage. I am almost certain that you do not know what the word amazing really means. Use it in a sentence like "Nicolas Cage is the most gut wrenching actor ever, and the fact that he manages to get work is amazing". Any possible use of the word amazing to describe Nicolas Cage in a positive sense would literally make the universe implode. Maybe you should be forced to watch 8 MM, Face Off, or Snake Eyes in order to be reminded of this fact.
I can usually ignore little things, but this error is so egregious I must now drink some bleach in order to cleanse my blackend soul. Thanks alot, j*rk off!

One of the funniest SNL bits recently. Andy mocking Nic Cage, and Cage coming on to mock Andy's impression of him.

Not as good as John Belushi joining Joe Cocker on stage as Joe Cocker to mock Joe Cocker during a Joe Cocker song. But pretty darn funny.

Such a surprise, best part of the show. Cage's deadpan act was fab. Samberg's impersonation of him always a-one.

gotta admit I like nic cage a little bit more
08:31 AM on 02/13/2012
I agree. Most of the time he seems to take himself too seriously, but this was great. And the fact that he did the entire thing without even coming close to cracking a smile made it 10x better.
01:30 PM on 02/13/2012
except for when he did crack a smile
02:00 PM on 02/13/2012
Yea, but then he didn't even come close to cracking a smile.

Solid sketch comedy. However, go to Hulu and watch the early skit with the fake Cage as it sets up this set in its entirety, especially the 3-way reference.

Nicolas Cage was excellent of SNL last night as he placed tongue firmly in cheek with Andy Samberg. The crowd loved it and he was just dead on dead pan funny. This will go down as one of those classic SNL moments that will be played in the best of SNL bits.

Kudos to the real Nic for having such a good sense of humor and self-deprecation.
