Rihanna, Coldplay Perform At Grammys: 'We Found Love,' 'Princess Of China' And 'Paradise'

First Posted: 02/12/2012 9:19 pm Updated: 02/13/2012 9:18 am

Rihanna started with "We Found Love," during which she writhed around on the crowd until the Calvin Harris-produced track came in. The singer's blonde 'do gave the performance a twinge of Tina Turner.

Chris Martin and his guitar then joined RiRi for "Princess Of China," a much more stripped down performance. The full band then performed "Paradise."

It was a big night for electronic music. Chris Brown also performed a song that was produced by a house music artist ("Beautiful People," by Benny Benassi), Skrillex won three awards in the pre-show and deadmau5 and David Guetta were expected to perform later in the show.

easily and had a fun time. chris martin sacrifices a lil' bit of his vocals for more energy onstage, but it is all good. have a great time.. that show at the gorge is gonna be a great night .

I like Princess in China but Rihanna singing live isn't doing it for me
Rihanna is the classic definition of a studio singer

I agree with No More Junk - The Grammy's were actually quite an improvement this year, except for the classless, raunchy acts by Rihanna and that Minaj-Pope thing. It's a real shame if these girls have decent singing voices - we'd never know. What they do is devoid of musicality and not entertaining. They repeat the same monotonous one-liner over and over and over - they don't sing, they don't dance, they just make fools of themselves. What's worse, is when they team these characters with other artists - if you mix vomit and jelly, it's still not appetizing. No offense to the Maroon 5 guy, but having him sing a Beach Boys tune was cringeworthy. I didn't understand why he was up there? And having Carrie Underwood scream into poor old Tony Bennett's hearing aid was laughable. I like Alicia Keys, but Bonnie Raitt should have had the stage to herself. The guitar-fest was pretty cool - David Grohl earned his place.

Rihanna has a beautiful face, a bangin' body and I'm quite happy that a Black woman is becoming the new princess of pop but lets not mince words here...this broad can't sing. Anyone who can't sing live just can't sing period. I took my younger sister to see her in concert for her birthday and hearing her belt out 'California King Bed' made me want to give my life to Christ so he'd forgive me for my sins and make her stop singing(I'm Atheist btw). She's just awful. Seriously in an ideal world everybody would be blind. That way singers would have to rely on their voices only and not their looks. Rihanna is lucky she's a hottie because she should be serving me at burger king, not singing at the Grammy's. Ugh. I'm not a big fan of Boreplay but I quite like thier performances and that 'Paradise' song is bloody catchy. Can't get it out of my head.

I have not watched the Grammy's in many years. The show sucks royally. I did YouTube JHudson's tribute to Whitney. Judging by the comments on Facebook and on this site, I did not miss much once again.

You missed Adele. Worth tuning in just for that.

I actually recall walking through my living room area and hearing Adele. I just did not tune in completely to her set. She did sound strong and at a glance she looked beautiful and classy.

Bruno Mars = A Black version of Sha Na Na! Sorry Bruno, we already HAD a James Brown and the Famous Flames and they were the real thing and much much better. Cold play belongs exclusively in elevators and if they repeat that deadly boring "Paradise" a couple more times they will have redefined redundancy and elevated Tapioca to an art form. Forget the damn Melodyne Chris Brown? The Melodyne for those who do not know is that robotic sounding thing that you can speak into and it makes your words into notes. The use of Melodyne should be banned at ANY show that pertains to "music" and especially at the Grammys. It is like appearing on "Top Chef" to compete at cooking and entering a plate of to-go food from Spago. If you can't do it live in front of an audience you don't belong on the Grammys. Nikki Minaj? That is all I am going to say about her. This broadcast should be called "The Demise of Western Music". God bless Tony Bennet, Paul McCartney and even the ever so adorable Taylor Swift who gave it her best shot and is cute as a button.

The trashy sex as a weapon has been done over and over since Lita Ford, Madonna, Brittany, Aguilera, Gwen Stephani, Beyonce, its like we have seen them all wear the near naked clothing... and its not special anymore.. pretty soon its performance in Pasties!! I mean, why not just go full naked and get it over with?? You have left NOTHING hidden after the countless topless spreads.. I mean, yawn... Adele outsold Rhianna in album sales and iTunes downloads who never showed CLEAVAGE!!! People do not need sex to buy music.
