Excited to see JCS make it this far! It has beautiful music and IMO is a beautiful, humanistic telling of the story of Jesus. One of the few pieces of Christian cinema that tugs on my agnostic heart strings. :)

Love, love, love Jesus Christ Superstar and Life of Brian!

I could not sit through the passion of the christ. I left the movie theatre after 10 minutes or so. It was disgusting. However Jesus Christ Superstar is one of my favorite movies. Watch the scene of Mary magdalene and I don't know how to love him, and you have to see and laugh at King Herod's scene. The culmination with Judas and gorgeous angels is terrific.

The Life of Brian isn't about Jesus. Why is it in the running?

Really excellent film about forgiveness! Only with prayer can we forgive and love others.

Am I seriously the only one who thinks of "The Making of... And God Spoke"??

The one thing I really admired about BOTH ‘The Passion Of The Christ’, (Mel Gibson's epic to religio-sexual themes & morals he himself DOESN'T practice, of late), is that, like ‘The Thin Red Line’ & ‘Saving Pvt. Ryan, (and HBOS’s ‘ROME’, ‘Spartacus’, etc.), it shows inter-personal & large-scale ‘combat’ for all the fun it is…
Or isn’t!

I’ll concede I’m ever-so-slightly prejudiced: although it would have been considered both tasteless & unprofessional, the last ambulance I crew-chief’d could have had 2,000 ‘bullets’ painted on the fender, in the same sense as a WW-2 B-17g had a ‘bomb’ silhouetted, near the nose art, for each mission!

I still don't understand why Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan and the Star Wars saga weren't included in the original brackets.

Robert Powell's performance as Christ in Jesus of Nazareth was excellent, but The Life of Brian accurately shows how easily fooled people are, so it gets my vote.

Passion of the Christ was disgusting. It should have been called the Two-hour Whoopass of the Christ. It plays like it was directed by Sam Peckinpah, slow-motion blood flying and flesh ripping. Eeeuuuwww!

Mel Gibson needed to show how evil Jews are, because his insane rantings to police officers weren't getting the message out.

It's like the Kazakhstan parts of "Borat," but it's not satire because Gibson believes it.

Re: "It plays like it was directed by Sam Peckinpah, etc." {Tray117}

What, did you expect the Romans would do a multi-trauma-diagnostic workup for each Crucifix-rider?
I read that, outside Masada, the Romans were crucifying 5,000 people/week!

Even the Catholic Church, no slouch when it comes to ‘torture for pleasure’ issues, estimates that 750,000 Christians were murdered in a (celluloid-free) multi-century snuff-epic!

...You know how the popes, in between burning men, woman, children & the womb-bound, hate competition!
