The hot ones are the ones, who ADOPTED and not shopped for their pooches. 4 million shelter animals are put to sleep every year in this country and some die agonizing deaths in gas chambers. Yes we gas pets like the nazis did. Spay and neuter your pets. I work as a foster mom for pups. It is heartbreaking the stories you hear and how heartless people are when it comes to the most innocent of creatures. ADOPT DON'T SHOP!!!

All my fuzzy brats are adoptees, or in one case taken off the street half feral, so I'm all about spaying, neutering, and adopting. The problem is, there's so much misinformation out there, that a lot of people just WON'T go to a shelter, either because they've heard flat out lies about shelters and mutts in general, or they've heard that pure bred dogs are the only ones to go for, or some nonsense like that. There's so much crap out there it's fairly hard to even sort through, but I wish more people would do their research. (I know some do, but not nearly enough D:)

My "mutts" lived a long, long time, and they were medium-large dogs. One had to be euthanized at 15, the other, 17. The one pure bred, a Labrador I had (A giveaway puppy from a "whoops!" litter), had to be euthanized at 9 due to major hip and spinal issues, as well as some other problems I can't remember everything that was wrong with him after all these years. - I was a kid, 12 or so and in school, so I had to rely on second hand information.

And besides the shelters, there are those that dump new litters on the side of the road, or worse, in the garbage, in rivers or lakes, and other absolutely horrible things. It's pretty sick.
