Old thread, but thought I'd add The Civil Wars as an absolute new favorite. Not since the Eagles has there been vocal harmonization like these two. And props to Dave and the Foo Fighter, always underrated with there work...

What is the difference between Album of the Year and Record of the Year?
04:08 PM on 02/13/2012
Album is an entire album where record consists of only a single from the album, ie a song which made the billboard top 100

All Time Grammy Wins: Betty White 1, The Rolling Stones 0.

um, untrue. They won two in 1995 for voodoo lounge (best rock album) and love is strong (best video). Not to mention a grammy lifetime achievement award in 1987.

The Grammys demonstrated their worth last night by awarding "best new artist" to someone that has been around since 2008.

The Grammy's did nothing for me, again. Loved most of the performances, but tons of artists who deserved to be there didn't even get a nod. Doesn't surprise me though. Musicians are the worst judge of good music.

BTW - I'm a songwriter. And no, I don't believe I should've been nominated for anything. That'll come next year.

Tedeschi/Trucks had the best album of the year. But never expect the grammys to get it right. Every year they should have Christopher Cross and Milli/Vanilli as hosts so people realize that these awards have little to do with musical talent. Remember when they added a heavy metal category and then gave it to Jethro Tull (to be fair I think the award was Heavy Metal/Hard Rock or some such nonsense) but it was real slap in the face to those who had wanted a heavy metal category. And I remember Ian Anderson thinking it was hilarious.
But Adele does seem as if she could be good, if she sang better songs.
12:54 PM on 02/13/2012
Yes! I remember that back in 1988; Metallica was supposed to be the surefire win, and then Jethro Tull won it. I was a little kid when that happened, but I've seen enough metal documentaries to know what happened.

Excellent, two Grammy's for Chick Corea, who is right now playing at the top of his game. If you have never seen him by all means GO.

Great, now Bon Iver will fade into obscurity.

ha. well, now that he's won a grammy, he's mainstream- we'll see how far off into the fringe he takes his music in response. :)

I though we had a little secret with Adele and Bon Iver. Not any more. Of course, her first album was great too.
