Louis C.K. Wins Grammy For 'Hilarious' Comedy Album

Louis C.K. is officially a Grammy winner. The veteran stand-up comedian won Best Comedy Album for his album "Hilarious" at the 2012 ceremony, announced on February 12. Although C.K. was not present at the ceremony to accept the award, the category was announced at a pre-televised ceremony.

"Hilarious" is C.K.'s fifth stand-up comedy album.

C.K. tweeted his "acceptance speech":

Im cooking rice green beans, steak for the kids (gf chicken fingers too)and someone just told me i won a Grammy. well golly.

This is C.K.'s first Grammy nomination, and first win. "Hilarious" was also recorded as a concert film, and was the first stand-up special to show at Sundance Film Festival. The filmed special was nominated for two Emmy awards. His previous special, "Chewed Up," was also nominated for an Emmy award. He was also nominated for two Emmys for his FX show "Louie."

One of the most prolific comedians working today, C.K. has already released a new album since he released "Hilarious" in 2010. "Live at the Beacon Theatre" created headlines when C.K. decided to self-release the title on his website after producing it with money accrued from sales of the live taping.

Also nominated for Best Comedy Album this year were "Weird Al" Yankovic, The Lonely Island, Patton Oswalt and Kathy Griffin. Upon his album losing to C.K.'s, Oswalt tweeted, "If I was going to lose the Grammy, I'm glad it was to the best comedian alive. Congrats, @louisck." Yankovic took a more tongue in cheek approach, tweeting earlier in the day, "Congratulations in advance to the winners in my Grammy categories, @louisck and @OfficialAdele!"

C.K. can next be seen on "Parks and Recreation," where he will return as an old love interest of Lesley Knope (Amy Poehler).

Jeez, you idiots! Why are you speaking to us via a website when you have never even taken a moment to watch the artist of note? Take an hour and do a hint of research before proffering an opinion.

Buying because of the cause? It's buying because of the source. Louis C.K. - as you would both know if you did even a few minutes of research - is considered the best American comedian by everybody, including his fellow elite comedians. We buy because we love Louis' stuff; the originality of his offer and the charity aspect are wonderful side benefits.

LittleOldLadyWho, I see your point. I to have silver hair in places I never thought I would live to see. I have been around the world and walked through it. I can not agree with you in offering respect to all. I am reading Churchill's history of the war. In the first book good men offer respect to bad and try very hard to see good in evil. To some respect offered is a tool that they use against those that offer it and those foolish enough only to see the respect being offered as respect deserved.Respect like all is something earned not poured out because the recipient has the capability to use a keyboard to spew out their idiocy on the world.

Seeing him in person, as I had the privilege of doing last year, the power of his humor makes me laugh right from my gut. I need a few laughs like that. He is the best comedian working today.

Patton's latest album was a good one. Better than the previous effort. Weird Al is always fabulous. But no one had a chance against "Hilarious". Louis CK is just on top of his game right now. It's a pleasure to watch Mr CK's thought process.

Ok...First off, the guy on the left was talking about himself more than Louis. Also, Louis didn't do this because he thinks he's a big star and he wanted to be different, or for any selfish reasons. He took the risk and did it because he's a genuine guy who wanted to make things as easy as possible for his fans. People bought it because they respect him. I bought the Beacon Theater special and it was the best 5 bucks I've ever spent.
