Oprah To Honor Whitney Houston With Special On OWN

Oprah announced on Monday that her cable network, OWN, will air special programming to honor the late Whitney Houston.

Set to air Thursday night during prime time, OWN will broadcast a two-hour special title, "Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview." As the title indicates, the special will be a re-air of Oprah's 2009 interview with Houston.

In what was widely believed to be the mark Houston's comeback after years in an abusive marriage and excessive drug use, the superstar sat down with Oprah and gave one of the most candid interviews of her career. Houston opened up about her "drug of choice" and detailed how her mother, Cissy Houston, brought police to Houston's home to stage an intervention.

Following the news of Houston's death, Oprah tweeted about her admiration for the music icon. "To me Whitney was THE VOICE. We got to hear a part of God every time she sang. Heart is heavy, spirit grateful for the GIFT of her," Oprah wrote.

This is one of THE BEST interviews by Oprah and Whitney!! I was SO proud of her at this moment in her life! She was ONE of the BEST singers in my generation and I honestly would say THE BEST! No one could and can compare to her, she was a lady with class and didn't have to be half naked and flaunt herself loosely on stage as these entertainers do now for attention and ratings.She set the standard for the women in entertainment! I am honored to have lived and experienced such a PHENOMENAL VOICE!

TEE HEE! The over-bearing SELF-RIGHTEOUS, so-call religious folk CRACK ME UP!!!

On her television show, she all but directly accused Michael Jackson of child molestation. THEN when he died, she was THE FIRST to interview and parade around his children, that he desperately tried to shield from the public.

Everyone knows that Oprah's OWN is tanking, and isn't getting the ratings that she is used to getting BUT ISN'T.

This is ALL about ratings and saving her own neck. Just like I didn't watch her show when she was pimping Michael Jackson's kids out (the SAME guy she told her audience was GUILTY); here she is AGAIN pimping out someone FOR RATINGS.

I don't know how people worship this creature. She turned her back on one of the MOST WORST public school systems in the U.S. (Chicago), to fly half-way around the world to start a school for Africans. These so-called christians---tsk, tsk, tsk----Doesn't the GOOD BOOK say that CHARITY begins at home? By the way, she said that those kids in Chicago (ALL OF THEM) don't want to learn, that they just WANT THINGS. Well maybe if she stopped making HAVING STUFF and GIVING STUFF AWAY TO HER AUDIENCE MEMBERS, those kids wouldn't want what she's SELLING daily on her show.

I agree with you on all except the christian part. Oprah is not a christian. She said so herself in a youtube video that she left the church because "God was jelous of me...jelous of me Oprah." She has formed her own new age church under the tutelage of Echardt Toole. They believe that they create God in their image...that ther is no sin. It's in his book "A New Earth" which Oprah promoted. She has her own Church with a hugh following.

Thanks Oprah for all you have done! And continue to do! My heart goes out to Whitney's Mother and daughter. Being a Mother is universal we all Love our children! I know her Mother had cried and prayed many nights for her child. As well as many of us. I have read some negative comments regarding Whitney. Please people be considerate of her Mother, daughter, and the rest of her family!

Uh, how is airing that interview honoring Whitney? And worse yet, it has a lot of negative info on Bobby Brown and I just think it's awful to fan the public flames in that regard by reminding people of all that she said relative to him because at the end of the day right now—that's the only parent that her daughter has at this moment. Just probably not all what she needs to hear or see right now in the public discourse.

Whitney Huston was ungracious, and rude to her fans. She was bankrupt, and used none of her millions to do any good. She was a self absorbed drug addict who threw away her gift. She does not deserve to be "honored". How about HONORING the countless young men and women who have sacrificed their life for this country instead. By using your wealth and notoriety, you can bring attention to the fact that they are coming home to no jobs, and no support system for PTSD, then you would actually be doing something worthwhile.
