Touch a raw nerve, did we? The "article" (which it isn't) clearly says "Satire website College Humor" has listed the top ten slacker colleges. This means that a website devoted to "satire" (that's joking around) has published an article in the category of "college humor" (that's, you know, a lot like joking around) which pretends to list the top ten . . . well, you get the point. Or perhaps you went to Penn State and you don't quite get the point . . . ?

You know what else Penn State is number one in? Ranking among business recruiters who draft these students to come and work at firms and other fields. State college students, don't worry too much about these type of hater articles. The amount of elitism seen in publications like this is sickening. Public school kids are forced to sink or swim by there own merit, no grade inflation or hand holding, or one-on-one teaching (like at private schools/liberal arts). However, this helps you realize NO ONE is holding your hand in life, period. end of story. At the end of the day, public school kids are getting the jobs, working an extremely expansive network, and getting a fantastic education at a fraction of the cost. Go Terps.

This is one of the worst articles i have ever read in my life. It seems like the author just put a bunch of schools he didn't get into and called them slacker schools

Please guys - You just can't leave out the University of Georgia. When I was there - way back in the dark ages - a couple of national magazines - listed UGA as one of the top ten party schools in the country. I enjoyed a good education there - and we certainly did have a great time.

This article is absurd. I think the author has confused universities with a history of strong athletic programs and a high level of school spirit with "slacking."

As an alumni of one of these schools , I can personally vouch for the fact that the academic experience was no joke. I also had no problem obtaining a job at a top consulting firm after graduation and later admission into a top law school. What most of these school lack is an elitist attitude. I've had numerous employers tell me they like graduates from the schools listed because they have a great work ethic and are personable.

Who wrote this? Penn State is widely considered a "public ivy."

That's the University of Pennsylvania, not Penn State.

The nation-wide SEC jealousy is seriously getting out of hand. Oh, well I guess it's tough being on top. Going to any school up north is NF anyway.

Wow... Apparently Huffington Post is tops on "Slacker Jounalists"... Auburn University was ranked as one of the toughest colleges in America to receive an A...

Apparently the "slacking" going on here was by the writer who apparently failed to do any research whatsoever on the subject matter.

I understand that this list is a generalization, but honestly there must be numerous "slacker" colleges in the U.S and this truly aggravates me. I attend a nationally ranked private school and work my ass off for my 3.5 GPA and what bothers me is having to compete with these "slackers" for jobs in the future. I worked incredibly hard for my B+ average, but someone from a university or college that requires less work has a greater chance to achieve a A average. Especially if it is a big University/College, such as the ones on this list, their transcripts may look more impressive. Ah frustrating!

The pedigree of the diploma matters when one applies for a job. Most of the schools on this list award degrees that are not worth much outside of a small geographical region.

Depending on your private school, generally they are well regarded for grade inflation. So for example a 3.5 at Harvard (where more than 1/2 of the class graduates with honors) will not hold the same weight as a 3.5 from a top state school not known for grade inflation (Berkeley, Michigan, etc.) So you may be at a disadvantage on that end. However, no matter where you graduate from, if you do not have relevant experience/internships in your field you will not get a job--brand name degree or not.
