The Best Candy Heart Rejects Tweets For Valentine's Day (SLIDESHOW)

They are a staple of childhood Valentine's Days and an unavoidable aspect of Cupid's favorite holiday.

But the slogans on the chalky and, by most accounts, unpleasant tasting candy hearts have gone through a careful vetting process.

"Be Mine" didn't happen overnight. The candy creators had to sift through hundreds of incest-laden, misogynistic and cruel messages to get to the wholesome, sweet sayings we've come to expect.

The last box of candy hearts I opened went like this:

heart # 1 had no words on it, but looked pretty worn.

heart # 2 was also worn. I could not quite make out the first 4-letter word, but it was definitely followed by "you".

heart # 3 said "whiz kid".
