Homer City Generating Station Lawsuit: Environmental Groups Plan New Lawsuit Against Pennsylvania Coal Plant

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A coalition of environmental and community groups say they plan to file a new lawsuit against an Edison Mission Energy power plant in western Pennsylvania.

The Sierra Club and Earthjustice say in a statement Monday that the Homer City Generating Station, the state's second-largest coal plant, is violating clean air standards. The groups claim it released more sulfur dioxide last year than any plant in the nation.

A federal judge in Pittsburgh dismissed another pollution lawsuit against the plant last year, saying some claims were too old while others were superseded by state and federal laws.

California-based Edison said last month that it plans to add $700 million in pollution control equipment to the plant.

I live a couple miles from this power plant! It is dirty and possibly the worst in the country! I deserve clear air and so does my community! GE already manufactures wind turbines elsewhere. It is time for this generating station to invest in green energy for our area. Shut it down!

As if t hasn't happened since then or can't happen again.
If We The People don't keep our eyes on Corporate lobbying and complicit legislators, it WILL happen all over again. They just don't care if there's a profit in sight.

I guess you'd rather sit in poisonous stink.
A natural habitat for some, but not for those of us who'd like to lead HEALTHY lives.

Liberal---actually I reside on a mountain. People here are proud, poor, and patriotic.
We use electric power with gas back up. What do you use ?

They don't want coal it's dirty
They don'd want hydro it kills fish
No gas they are afraid of fracking
They are afraid of nuclear
Wind and solar are a joke won't supply the energy needed
So where do they think power comes from
01:25 PM on 02/15/2012
Unicorn farts.

Ok, the coal plant polutes. If you win your lawsuit, who gets the money? The planet? If yoy shut down the plant, where do you get the power from? Wind-only if there is a breeze. Solar? Only when it is synny. Nuclear? God forbid, not that.....we would have to sue again.

Get the names of the people suing and their lawyers and cut off their power then see how bad Edison really is
