James Avera Arrested For Running Over Ex-Girlfriend's Head With His Truck

Woman Survives After Ex Runs Over Her Head With His Truck

A South Florida man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly running over his ex-girlfriend's head with his truck in West Palm Beach, reports the Palm Beach Post. The victim, Toni Baran, 35, only sustained minor injuries and had to get her earlobe re-attached at St. Mary's Medical Center.

According to the probable cause affidavit obtained by Palm Beach Post, Baran was hanging onto 51-year-old James Avera's truck arguing with him when he pushed her off.

Witnesses say Baran fell right into the truck's path and although they yelled for Avera to stop, he kept driving. The truck bounced in the air when it ran over her head, witnesses told police.

Avera is being held at Palm Beach County Jail on a $330,000 bond on charges of attempted murder, strong-arm robbery, and battery causing bodily harm.

Florida has more than its share of feuding couples. Last March, a man in Stuart chased his girlfriend with an axe so she hid inside her locked car. The man used his backhoe to lift her car 5 feet in the air before dropping it on the ground while she was inside.

In May, a divorcing couple in Palm City got into a bad row about Q-Tips, which escalated domestic assault and choking.

A Bonita Springs man was arrested this past November for beating his girlfriend after she woke him up with a sex toy.
