Some of today’s leading ladies can take a cue from Jane Seymour’s modest, but modern style. Known for her roles in Live and Let Die and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, the English actress and officer of the Order of the British Empire rarely strays from simple and unfussy column gowns that highlight her lean frame.

Seymour keeps things interesting with a rotation of hues like hot pink, bright blue and classic red, shimmering sequins and even daring slits. For instance, her one-shouldered, metallic number at this year’s Grammy Awards was the perfect combination of chic and sexy.

But while the actress rocks her tried-and-true silhouettes, Seymour has also worn unflattering ensembles, such as a turquoise blue cardigan with matching trousers and strapless orange and yellow frock.

See more of Seymour’s hits and misses on the red carpet as she celebrates her 61st birthday this Wednesday.
