I understand people being angry about Clive Davis continuing the party. However, you all fail to realize that Clive is a businessman, he spent millions on plannning for his day. The show must go on; as we will have to continues our lives. Ms. Houston is far beyond what words can describe, she will be missed. And as the Country grieves her loss, we should ponder the question as to what we as individuals can do to help others, particularly African Americans who suffer from Addiction. It's not about Clive, it's about what we can do to product change within our culture. Anger is a component of the grieve progress, let's focus on Ms. Houston's family and her darling daughter, Bobbi Kris.....God Bless Us All

Let's see if the moderators post this. Valerie was just as wrong as Gabrielle, that was not a celebration of Whitney's life! her dead body laid upstairs. that was a disrepectful ending of her life real friends didn't attend. Chaka was her real friend and no way she would have ever been there.

Bad decision, very callous act, maybe if they would have moved the party to a new location, but in the same hotel and she was still there on a different floor, TERRIBLE! HEARTLESS, NO EXCUSE!

Change of mind--After hearing Valerie Simpson talk about the option of staying in her room at the hotel, grieving Whitney's death, or going downstairs and celebrating her life, Gabrielle made the right decision. The party turned into a celebration of Whitney's life, her talents, skills, and great personality--and how so many people loved her and miss her.
Thanks Valerie, for coming on CNN and discussing this, when you're still grieving yourself. Gabrielle, you did the right thing.

I have heard reports that half the room was grieving and talking about Whitney and the other half was drinking and partying.

If some people partied while Whitney's body lay upstairs, shame on them. But then, there are those people who would trample their own mother to get ahead in life. I don't care about them. But for those who celebrated her, I think they did the right thing.

Frankly, I think it's disrespectful, tacky and shows a lack of feeling to party while someone who you all claimed to care about, is lying dead somewhere in the hotel where your party is being held. It should have been cancelled did anyone stop and think about her daughter at all?

Hmmm. Would she had felt the same if it were her mother? I doubt it! The picture is, why haven't we heard directly from Clive? We already know the people there were partying period.

ALL of these people are druggies. Whitney was surrounded by them; was one, and now we all know that drugs will make people do the strangest things.

There is really no defense for the thoughtless, insensitive, and callous behavior of those people who decided to party, while Whitney's lifeless body was only a few floors above them. It was tacky and disgraceful. But, I guess one shouldn't expect more from Hollywierd. I applaud the celebrities like Chaka Khan, Sharon Osborne, Brandy, etc... who had enough class to not attend.
Shame on Clive Davis for putting a "party" above the loss of someone he called a "friend." I guess we know where some of the priorities lie.
Gabrielle Union.... shame on you, too! A person's life is more important than your need to socialize and party. Couldn't you have shown just a little respect to Whitney Houston and her family?

She needs to put a sock in it! There is now way one can (try) to defend a disgraceful act. For the life of me, to continue to have a party when someone is dead a few floors up is beyond words. Clive doesn't care and the people who continued didn't either. If they had any decency, they would quickly turn on their heels and head home...period!

It's not that I care, I just can't imagine partying when I know Whitney Houston's lifeless body is upstairs.

Gabrielle, just look pretty and keep quiet

Regardless of her being an addict...Regardless of the drugs and the liquor.....She was a human being...period!
08:18 PM on 02/15/2012
A human being died and their body is upstairs......How can you party?.....I will never understand this.....Chaka had sense enough to not attend...and Brandy had sense enough to leave......

WTF was wrong with the rest of them????....SAD!

They're all on drugs. And I don't mean this as a joke. That's the only way you can do something like this and party like it's 1999----with a dead celebrity a few floors up.
