TEHRAN, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Iran has stopped oil exports to six European states in retaliation for European Union sanctions imposed on the Islamic state's key export, the country's English language Press TV reported on Wednesday.

FILE - In this Jan. 19, 2012 file photo, fishing boats are seen in front of oil tankers on the Persian Gulf waters, south of the Strait of Hormuz, offshore the town of Ras Al Khaimah in United Arab Emirates. The European Union has announced plans to join US efforts to slow the flow of oil from Iran, the world's third largest exporter. In response, Iran has threatened to shut the Strait of Hormuz and prevent one fifth of the world's oil from reaching customers. (AP Photo/Kamran Jebreili)

Don't need Iran's oil as much with the Vapor Fuel Technology fuel system solution http://mpgleader.com as it helps drivers and fleet operators save gasoline, and automotive OEM's and their franchised dealers solve the 54.5mpg CAFE requirement.

Another ploy to "wag the tail" to help price fix oil gas prices higher again, meanwhile our own congress won't put their foot on the alternative energy pedal... why: they are both sides of the aisle invested in oil/gas. sad sad sad.. oust them all and start over at all levels from U.S. congress right on down to city councils.. and first new law should be to outlaw lobbyists, 2, one term limit per congressman/woman./senators included. This democracy is run by the rich, on the backs of the poor. sad sad sad...

Dear Supreme Leader. Thanks for helping us implement the embargo on Iranian oil.
Regards,
European Union.

Nothing wrong with the article, but the Huff Post headline is misleading, i.e., it is a good example of a quibble - an accurate statement deliberately misleading by misrepresentation, e.g., leaving out relevant facts which would reverse the impression. The Iranian move is in direct response to the European boycott moves following the US lead. In this case it is Europe which selected the path, i.e., known and anticipated consequences of its own actions.

You can't fire me, I quit!
Bravo, Supreme Leader!
A few more moves like that and your regime is toast.

This will raise the price of oil and the prices at the pump will rise. We won't invade Iran, however, the Western powers are urging Israel to bomb Iran.

"without naming them". And Reuters leaves it at that? No list of which countries buy oil from Iran? No indications that countries are trying to buy oil from new sources, or greater amounts from existing ones?

How about a little journalism, Reuters? The Forth Estate wants to see a little rent here.

I am just wondering what the Iranians would eat if all E U member states would stop exporting wreath to Iran, perhaps they might eat Sand instead of bread

Errrrr but there's more than six countries within the EU and there's free trade between the countries, so even if the report is true - it'll have no effect on the six countries?

When did it become their responsibility to make things better in Europe?

Exactly. What a cheek, really, to impose an embargo with a comfort clause --

"Dear Iran,
We don't want your oil, but could you please keep sending some until we've found new suppliers, and would you mind keeping our central heating systems going until the weather warms up a little? We're having an awfully cold winter here.
Thanks
The EU"

I know...it boggles the mind, doesn't it, Molly?

It serves the Eu right; this embargo was meant to appease their Masters, the same ones that sold them toxic assets and who, through rating agencies, keep further undermining the currency and economy. Everyone I talk to, everything I read, the feeling I get is that PEOPLE are just dismayed that their governments should take this course of action - which is, in effect an act of war as it amounts to a full economic blockade - when there is zero evidence to justify it.

Talk about cut off one's nose to spite one's face...

I guess that the Iranians are prepared to drink the oil that they are keeping. It makes no sense to withhold something that is not any good unless you have a market for it. If people would think about what they say and do, some of this nonsense would not take place. We need each other in the world and when people realize this, perhaps there would be less wars. Eventually the warring countries will become such wastelands, that they will not be able to rebuild. What good does it do you to build an arsenal? You cannot eat bullets or drink oil. You would think that the leaders of the country would think about the conditions that exist in their countries and how their people need food instead of fighting. What could they do if they eliminated all of their (enemies?). They need other countries to buy their oil, so what good does it do them to hold on to it?

It was the EU that announced an embargo on Iranian oil imports in the first place -- but this wasn't due to start until the summer, to give EU importers time to find other sources and, conveniently, to get them through the cold months without any shortages.
Why on earth should Iran go along with that just to cushion the countries imposing the sanctions?
Of course it makes sense for them to just say -- okay, if you don't want our oil, don't buy it.

What else is new; we all knew this was going to happen so it is no surprise. The President of Iran would like to wipe Israel and the US off of the map. He is looking for an all out war and unfortunately many innocent Iranian people will probably end up getting killed. All because of their President who will not back down.

The only ones looking for an all out war in Iran are the DUHmerican's and Israel.

Talk about inverting reality...

1. Nobody talked about wiping anyone off anywhere; if anything, it's the Pro Eretz Israel crowd who often use expressions like "turning Iran into glass" and who advocates attacking them with nuclear weapons;

2. These sanctions are uncalled for as there is not evidence that Iran has breached the NNPT; also, the fact that, on top of the sanctions, the US threatens to stop doing business with whoever trades with Iran, means that this is an economic blockade, which is in international law, an act of war.

3. The President of Iran doesn't hold much power for starters; but pray tell, what has he to back down from?
