'19 Kids And Counting': Michelle Duggar Gets Upsetting News At A Prenatal Check Up (VIDEO)

Unlike some of her earlier pregnancies, Michelle Duggar's latest pregnancy has been chronicled publicly almost from beginning to end. She and husband Jim Bob announced the news that she was pregnant with her 20th child live on the "Today" show back in November, and cameras followed her to prenatal doctor's visits.

Thus, viewers of "19 Kids And Counting" (Tue., 9 p.m. EST on TLC) watched as Michelle and Jim Bob received the news that no expectant parent ever wants to hear -- the doctor could not find the baby's heartbeat.

Twelve weeks pregnant, Michelle had gone in for a routine check up when her doctor asked if she wanted to hear the baby's heartbeat. However, the doctor couldn't detect it on the doppler, and the situation was tense as she sent Michelle for an ultrasound scan.

Finally, they received good news: The baby was okay. Michelle and Jim Bob were overjoyed.

As everyone knows, Michelle went on to have a miscarriage at around 20 weeks. The moment that the Duggars heard the devastating news will feature on an upcoming episode of the show.

"19 Kids And Counting" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.

Jim Bob needs to find a hobby or something; do these 2 ever leave the bedroom? They are pretty ridiculous. They are only trying to retain a place in the Guiness Book. The older kids are taking care of the younger ones. She is NOT a good mother.

that's so sad about what those two parents are thinking, yest having kids, and been so self fish and immature.because having kids makes feel young for example; a women who is very old and dress up like a teener looks ridicules and does accept the is old rigth the life is stages is the same like this people they don't accept they are grampas now they only thinking about how they will be feeling not about what their other kids need from them, it's sad.they need to be responsable for the other kids. and accept the next step on life is to be grampas, be with the new babies with their oldest kids

There are certain limits to everything, I am sure any doctor would tell her that it is very dangerous for someone in her condition to bring anymore children into this world and as someone said below her last two experiences with being pregnant wasnt what she expected, so maybe she should put her a woman can do whatever she wants and god wills attitude behind her and start thinking with her brains and look at the big picture, that she already has 19 kids alot more than some ppl can have and be thankful that she is still here to watch them grow up, not everyone gets to have children and not everyone can watch/take care of them....

Do you watch the show? Because her doctor clearly explained to her all the reasons why it was a high rish pregnancy. She understood all the risks, and was willing to take her chances. It is her body, and if she wishes to take her life into her hands to have a risky pregnancy, it is certainly none of my business. I just don't believe anyone can tell people how many children they should have. It is no one's business, especially since they are taking perfect care, financially and otherwise, of the children that they do have.

I'm glad they are sharing this. Miscarriage and stillbirth are still taboo subjects and yet so many women experience them. Through Michelle Duggar's experience at least other women will have an idea of where to start and what to do should they find themselves in a similar circumstance. I have nothing but respect for the Duggar family, and Michelle in particular.

I'm glad the baby is ok - HOWEVER - PLEASE tell me this is IT for this baby factory! They really need to learn either BIRTH CONTROl or the pull-out method - is it really fair for the rest of the kids? I have always said, only have what you can give EQUAl attention to - and I really doubt they can give equal ANYTHING to that brood!

I agree!Her older children take care of her younger ones, what kind of childhood is that..? and also does she realize the risk of having children at her age..does she ever stop to think what if something happens to me during this pregnancy and i leave behind all my kids...selfish i think..but thats just my opinion....

It is their business how large their family is. As long as you aren't paying for them through welfare programs and Government Assistance, why do you care how large a family they have? If the children are well cared for and adequately supported by their parents own efforts, you have no say. What ever happened to "choice"? Families come in all shapes and sizes. Gay, Straight, large, small, single and married, etc. My only criteria is that they support their own children and not ask me to support them.

We may not have a "say" but we do have "opinions". We have that right. No one needs to have 20 children. No one can properly take care of that many children. They are just a "bunch", not indiviuals. It hurts to think all those Many children will Never know personal attention, someone listening to them, valuing them as an individuas, Really getting to know them. That's not going to happen with these kids. Wait a few years, we'll all be hearing what it was like, right from them. It's sad, it's Stupid and selflish. It's Hoarding, it boarders on mental illness. Watch, this woman will die trying to have the worlds record amount of kids and then what? Who will raise them then? Normal lives? They will never know that.l

Happy children do not come from sick perverted parents. Sorry, but that is what they are, and are doing it to themselves. The day will come when this is to much for them to handle and who will they blame ? No one but themselves. and you will be paying the bills for them.
