Pong Beer, For When You Need A Beer Pong-Specific Beer

Posted: 02/15/2012 5:37 pm

You may have left your beer pong days behind you once you actually turned 21. But in case you're still into tossing a semi-dirty ping pong ball into a red Solo cup, now there's a perfect beer for you, aptly titled Pong Beer. Naturally, a 30-pack of Pong Beer comes with two free ping pong balls.

Pong Beer is currently available in about 10 states, with more coming soon. The sell sheet is pretty convincing. Apparently, beer pong products total $20 million in sales and 50% of college students play beer pong.

You might be tempted to think that this product will only appeal to a small group of consumers. But given the amount of bad beer that college students guzzle, we're thinking this niche market may be able to turn a profit. That is, if fraternity brothers everywhere are willing to part with their beloved Keystone and Natty Light 30 racks.

Smart marketing effort. And as mentioned, the key is keeping the cost low. If the price can compete with Natty & Keystone, and they eat the extra ball-cost rather than passing it on to the consumer, I can see this as taking over the sport.

Unless this beer is priced lower than Natty light, it's going to bomb.  People don't buy good beer for beer pong, they buy whatever is cheapest when they walk into the store.
