Foster Friess Contraception: Twitter Reacts To Bayer Aspirin Statement (TWEETS)

First Posted: 02/16/2012 6:25 pm   Updated: 02/17/2012 4:43 pm

The hashtags #ThingsAspirinCures and #backinmyday may be the only good things to come out of the ridiculous comments Foster Friess made on Thursday.

The Rick Santorum backer and super PAC contributor shared his thoughts on contraception (and Bayer aspirin, for that matter) with the MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell on her show.

"This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it's such [sic] inexpensive," Friess said on the show. "Back in my days, they used Bayer Aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn't that costly."

While Mitchell was at a loss for words, Twitter nearly exploded with reactions and "Foster Friess" was soon a top trending topic in the U.S.

No wonder there are so many baby boomers. that aspirin just did not work.

If Barack Obama wanted to take away the parental right to spank the way Santorum would like to take away the right to birth control, we'd see a firestorm of outrage from conservatives that would all but literally blow our computer monitors apart.

The dismal way women are treated in this country and particularily in this State is nothing new..
We waited two hundred years to get the vote and have always been treated like second class citizens Even after women got the vote the men told them how to vote ... or else. . .Men had all the money and the women were barefoot and pregnant.
Not until the 1950 - 1970 did this deplorable situation start to change.
Now the younger women enjoy a life many of us only dreamed of when we were young. Young women do not know or choose not to remember what we went through so they can have a better life now... a life they take for granted.
Women are under fire now, again, sit back unconcerned. If you do, you can find yourself barefoot and pregnant again... If you think this is all just about contraception you are naive. It the mens authority over women, authority over women we should be alarmed about. What is happening should wake you up. It matters not whether you are a Democrat, Republican, have no political stance , religious or athiest, nothing is more important than you live your life as you see fit. It is your life , your body. You must protect yourself. You must protect your daughters. The uncontrolled religious fervor in this country right now is one of the most dangerous episodes I have lived through in my long life. TAKE HEED

Women have always been "under fire", but my perception is that the younger women don't understand what we older women fought so hard to achieve and are throwing it away. A careful review of what Foster actually said shows he only stated that in his generation women were expected to keep their knees together if they didn't want to become pregnant and he didn't understand "what all the fuss is about". He didn't advocate taking access to contraceptives away from anyone. Nor has Santorum. The argument is over who pays for contraceptives, not accessibility. Women are being used, as usual, to further an agenda not their own, and not in our best interests. We currently have access to the best medical solutions for contraceptives in the world. Allowing a government mandate and insurance companies to get between us and our doctors to save the almighty dollar will be a huge mistake. If insurance companies are forced to provide this benefit for "free", they will do so at the cheapest rate possible regardless our individual and unique needs, or pass the cost on in premiums too high for many to afford.

Actually if you listen to some of Santorums' speaches he makes it clear he thinks contreception should be regulated by the individual States. Meaning take it to the smaller level so they can, one by one, slowly make it more difficult to get. And what they are trying to do is make it more accessible to everyone, not just the ones who can afford it. Preventitive care is covered by insurance so why should this be any different?

As long as we have Republicans we don't need comedy shows.

Foster, you should have kept your mouth shut. Now Santorum wants to make aspirin a controlled substance.

Back in my days we used to commit crazy old men to the insane asylum....
Just sayin'

I'm family sure His comment was sarcasm, his belief in contraception aside. My grandmother used to say the exact same thing, but she always encouraged the use of birth control. The Bayer aspirin statement is just a euphemism for the effectiveness of abstinence versus birth control.

What an idiotic thought from an idot.

Especially stupid wolves, apparently.

Foster Who? This is just another wealthy idiot a-la Trump getting his name in the press. He should have said he would so something similar to keep himself from reproducing.

He's bankrolling Santorum, that's why he's important. He wants to take birth control from girls and women, just like the other religious nutcakes on the right.
09:22 AM on 02/17/2012
I think of him more a dangerous. Unfortunately most people won't pay any attention to him after a couple of days. They will be focused on Santorum. The kind or rhetoric that he has been spewing resounds to the extreme right wing Tea Party types. Hopefully the public will begin to see how out of touch he is with the majority. We will see.
