Looking at real estate? Here are four condominiums (and one tenancy-in-common) to visit this weekend. Priced from $349,000 to $1.699 million, all interesting from a design point of view, in a variety of neighborhoods, and classically San Franciscan.

Check them out in the slideshow below:

With great views of downtown, this c. 2004 condo is competing with newer developments in the area and being offered for $121K less than its sale price in 2005. Although there's new construction planned around the Transbay Terminal, the views will probably remain open, and the 2-bed, 2-bath unit has an updated, windowed kitchen, 1-car deeded parking. HOAs of $735 a month include a fitness room and indoor pool. Open Sunday, February 21 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm

There ARE some beautiful places in SF, but g*d, I'm glad I moved to Portland!

Portland is San Francisco 40 years ago. Love it. If I were starting out today, that is definitely where I would go with some reservations about the weather.

Summer weather is great! Late May through September. The rest, you get used to. Anyway, it's sort of cozy. Lots less people, and excellent locally produced food.

I always laugh when they mention the more than $700/moth HOA's.

Yeah. I'd like to live in a dungeon--oops, I mean a "garden apartment" in the Tenderloin where they sell crack and sex on your doorstep. Right. Got any bridges for sale?

These are beautiful homes, but not exactly kid friendly. I like this one in Bernal heights near Farmers Market.

Hmmm.... slide no. 3 looked like the place my husband lived as a kid on Leavenworth in the '50's, only they didn't call it a "garden space" back then. He always made sure he the tire chain with him on his way out the door.

Dolores Heights! What a joke! Who are they kidding. I love how they make up neighborhoods so that they don't have to put a listing in the Castro. It's so typical of the Real Estate people in The City.

What? People love the Castro. It has a reputation as a very safe neighborhood for women.

/I know it sounds like a one-liner, but it's actually true.
//I have a feeling I might get yelled at for that...
