Walk Of Shame Shuttle Comes To Your Rescue (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/16/2012 5:59 pm Updated: 02/17/2012 2:08 pm

After a night of blackout drinking, the so-called "walk of shame" is every bit as American as that just-in-case trip to the local free clinic.

Now, Jalopnik has discovered one young entrepreneur who's discovered a way to profit from the time honored tradition of regret and self-loathing.

University of Michigan senior Kellyann Wargo started the Walk of Shame Shuttle which, as the business' flyer notes, provides the customer with transportation to anywhere in Ann Arbor, complete with a free bottle of water, a Plan B coupon and, perhaps best of all, no judgement. All for the downright reasonable price of $5.

Wargo told Bro Bible that she decided to start the business because she was essentially doing it for free anyway.

"I have a particularly friendly roommate (Amanda) who takes advantage of my access to the mom van I [sic] that I drive- I have it for work," Wargo told the site. "She always texts me to pick her up in the morning and then I make her buy me McDonalds for payment.

"She suggested I make a business out of it because she, like many girls, doesn't want to call a taxi that takes forever and is usually some sort of father figure, middle aged man, driver."

Check out the Walk of Shame Shuttle's commercial above.

The best part is when the fire alarm goes off in the middle of the nite.

I live in a large apartment complex in a student-heavy area. Most weekend mornings, I see plenty of girls leaving/arriving home from the WoS. I say own it and call it a walk of triumph!

Walks of shame will happen on all college campuses regardless of whether or not a shuttle service exists. I applaud that girl for seeing a nice business opportunity.

I don't understand the need for a "Walk of Shame". Are you kids that prudish these daze?

If the walk of shame is 1. About Drinking, then let me suggest the Hair of the Dog first thing upon waking or 2. About Sex, grow up. Have morning sex then take a shower together and go eat breakfast.

The self-drama is pathetic and boorish.

It's a walk of shame often because sex with that particular person wouldn't have happened without being uninhibited by drinking first. When sobriety hits, the glamour of the previous night is gone and all that remains is awkwardness. So breakfast and a shower aren't exactly appealing activities in the morning.

When did you graduate from college? Your reaction implies that you may be much older than the people in the article. So this could be a generation gap thing.

One more thing: it's also a walk of shame because it implies that drunken sex with a stranger occurred the previous night. If you have sex with someone you know, you're typically prepared by bringing a change of clothes, toiletries, etc. when spending the night. Therefore, it's standard to assume that a guy/girl who's walking around on a Saturday/Sunday morning looking disheveled while wearing now-wrinkled party clothes is someone who had drunken sex with a stranger the previous night.

Students make fun of that individual (which is part of what makes it embarrassing), but the people making fun don't really care in the grander scheme of things. It IS college, after all.

I would rather call a cab or walk than get picked up by a van that says "Walk of Shame" on it.

I work for WVU and last Saturday I was up early and I saw a girl doing the walk of shame. Messed up hair, tiny dress and heels, and a sweatshirt that clearly didn't belong to her walking through my neighborhood. CLASSIC.

If one has never experienced a walk of shame, has one wasted the college experience?

Yes, one certainly has.

Mods, please don't post my previous comment as it makes me look dumb. I was rewatching the commercial and saw that it labels itself as "mock commercial." So yeah, definitely a joke and I feel like an idiot for questioning it earlier. Why it's in college rather than comedy section, I don't know.

Are you sure this is a real business? I can see the need of it, but that "commercial" seemed like more of a short comedy film than a way to promote a new enterprise. I'm entertained either way; that "commercial" is hilarious. :)
