Chicago Area Cats, Dogs & Other Pets Up For Adoption (2/17) (PHOTOS)

With Presidents' Day upon us, many Chicagoans will be enjoying an extra-long, late February winter -- what better opportunity to get out of the house and check out the furry residents of an area animal shelter?

This week, HuffPost Chicago is featuring our fifteenth grouping of area cats, dogs and rabbits currently available for adoption. To our knowledge, all animals are spayed or neutered, microchipped and up-to-date with their tests and vaccinations.

If this slideshow doesn't satisfy your cute animal-viewing fix, be sure to check out past features linked below the gallery either by scrolling down or clicking here. Many of the previously featured animals remain homeless -- those who've already been adopted are noted with a "Spoken For!" tag.
