Jon Stewart Mocks Glitter Bombing, Mitt Romney's Hair Comment (VIDEO)

Posted: 02/17/2012 11:59 am

Jon Stewart is sounding off on the divisive tactic of glitter bombing, which has become the "weapon of choice" for many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights advocates as the 2012 presidential race heats up.

On Thursday night's "Daily Show," Stewart calls glitter bombing "more clever than a pie in the face, but less clever than something actually clever." Still, the commentator saved his best jab for Mitt Romney, recalling the infamous "There's Something About Mary" scene in response to the former Massachusetts governor's remark about having post-bombing glitter stuck in his hair.

Take a look at some other noteworthy glitter bombings below:

Years before the first glitter bomb was detonated, it was a pie attack that made headlines.

Thom Higgins, a gay activist, launched a pie at singer and Florida orange juice spokesperson Anita Bryant in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1977.

Bryant, who was leading an anti-gay crusade across the country, remarked , "At least it was a fruit pie," before beginning reciting a prayer for Higgins.

Let's just call "glitter bombing" what it really is.....an act ofterrorism. No need to attempt to cake it up by using such soft and cushy lingo, yes?

I don't think even a two year old would be terrified of glitter. It's not like it is a hand grenade embellished with glitter and sequins. It's just GLITTER. I do agree that it is pointless and not clever at all. Seriously, think of some other way to get your point across, if you have one at all.
