Miami Weekend Guide: Miami City Ballet, Yacht Show, And Coconut Grove Arts Festival
No Super Bowl, no Grammys -- looks like you'll just have to step outside and get some fresh air this weekend.
It's one of the busiest weekends in Miami all year, thanks to some folks' three-day hiatus from work and the rest of the country's frigid weather.
Pound the pavement down at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival or shop for luxury yachts you'll likely never really have the funds to buy.
There's also two worthwhile art shows opening Friday at areas galleries. And local music recently cited touted by Brooklyn Vegan plays The Vagabond. Happy weekend-ing.
Friday (7 p.m.) Through March 31
At Gallery Diet, there's a rare exhibit by four family members titled, "The Woodmans." The mother Betty Woodman is a renown sculpture and the father George is also an artist who works in a variety of mediums. The son Charles is a sound artist and the daughter Francesca is best known for her photos, in which she uses herself as the subject. Francesca committed suicide when she was 22.
Ahol Sniffs Glue: Full-Time

The space is the project of Miami New Times art critic Carlos Saurez de Jesus, who says Ahol's new body of work "conflates his creative anxieties induced by both of his most recent jobs---one working for the porn industry selling men fantasies that they can enjoy desirable women, the other selling women diet food and the fantasy they too can become desirable to the man of their dreams after shedding weight."
There will also be a multimedia installation created in collaboration with Julian Yuri Rodriguez. Catch the after party at 11:00 P.M. at the Vagabond.
